TPMS light is on after upgrade to 19s
TPMS light is on after upgrade to 19s
so i have a 2010 maxima sv and it came with 18s. i got a sick deal and found these 19s and put them on, but the problem is that the tpm sensor came on. i went into the dealership and asked them could they take it off. the service guy said yes for 109$ to re program it. does anyone find this ridiculous considering its not like i bought after market rims i just upgraded them to 19s and they want that much. Anyone have any ideas on what i can do.
Your best bet is to disconnect the battery, pump all your tires to atleast 30psi, hook the battery back up, and drive the car. I heard some rumors that if its blinking its in learning mode and is trying to read pressure. Make sure to drive atleast 20mph. this might work. but a good chance it wont it definitely wont hurt to try, otherwise your other option is have someone reprogram with some sort of diagnostic tool..
First question, is it the dealer that removed your 18s and installed the 19s? If yes, talk nicely to them and have them reprogram it for free or go to another dealership and tell them that your tpms light JUST came on. A nice dealership would reprogram it for you, for free.
Or like me, my car of course came with 18s and when I bought the 2010 19s 7thgen rims from another member on here, I took the rims to discount tire and they installed them for me and had to reprogram the sensors. So, I am thinking whoever did the install for you should have programmed it.
So, talk to them nicely or go to another nice dealership and just say the lights just came on. They will reprogram for free as a courtesy service. They don't really know your car came with 18s. Or take it to discount tire and they could even reprogram it for free or far cheaper than dealership.

do what i did, just go to another dealership and say "iuno what happened, but my TPMS sensor is on can you reset it?". if you tell them you got new rims yeah they'd charge you. the new sensors aren't synced up with the car so thats why

also the fact I'll have them while I'm still deciding and saving on 20s.
19s > 18s anyday it looks so much nicer i got them with tires for 1000 flat. definitely well worth it. but as far as me going in to another service department, i already made a appointment today so ill say i dont no why the tpms is on. hopefully there nice about it unlike Baron Nissan... there such a$$holes there.
