Thumbs up Photos: New Product w/ LED and HID Install

What's up everyone, I wanted to showcase my take on the LED strips a few people have. I really liked the look of the lower chrome molding, but I didn't like the look of just the LED strips on the outer vents. So, I decided to combine the 2 and I think it turned out awesome. Also with this install, I wanted to showcase the add-a-fuse that is made specifically for the style of fuse our Maxima's use. I've seen a few guys mod another style of add-a-fuse to work with our cars, but this one is fit/form/function. My work is in the electrical market, so once I determined this style of add-a-fuse was not available, I contacted one my suppliers and got to work. Let me know what you think.

Here is a view of the molding. I like it because it’s simple and it complements the grill.

And here is my version. I made a template of the LED strips which allowed me to drill perfect holes through the chrome molding. I was then able to overlay the molding on top of the strips and match the LED’s without affecting light output. This way, you still have the look of chrome, but at night the LED’s shine through.

I also upgraded my fogs from LED’s to 6000k HID’s and swapped out my 4300k HID headlight bulbs for 6000k's as well. The strips are also rated at 6000k and believe me when I say all of the colors match brilliantly. I know the fogs look like they have a green tint, but that’s just the iPhone camera. HID's are from DDM and I had no issues with the install. Strips are from V-LEDS. Great products.

I powered the LED strips with my headlights and the way I did this was with the add-a-fuse. Anytime my headlights are on, so are the strips. I liked this setup because I was able to turn off my fogs, yet still have the strips on. As you will see below, the add-a-fuse installs just fine in the fuse box under the hood and the way I got my power wires out was through a hole I drilled in the front left of the fuse box. As for the LED’s ground wire, I just ran wire for those from the battery for a clean draw. Thanks for checking out my work.

Did you install the HID headlights yourself or had it installed professionally? If you did it yourself, can you show me how to do that? I want to install HID on mine too...picking up my ride next week!

Awesome job man. I think your the first to do this type of mod. I also have a add-a-fuse in my fuse box. It's awesome way to keep wiring clean without splicing them.

What did you use on the lower grill to make it appear chrome to match the top grill?

Yea, you can quickly get into too much chrome, which is why i'm stopping here. Anything more for me would be overboard.

Looks nice and clean man. I see you can see the LEDs reflecting off of the bumper, but can you noticeably see the individual LEDs from the front?

Thanks. I’m assuming you mean when they’re on and yes you can. I wish I had a better camera to take pictures with, but when they’re on, the led’s shine through the molding perfectly. My girl even applauded me for this mod and she hates “wasting” money on cars. Lol.

I attempted this, it actually turned out well. Mine looks like this. I just went to auto zone and bought a 24" pack of white leds. Cut them to expose about 9 leds. Not bad. Thanks for the inspiration.
