Tranny still slipping after all TSB fixes?

Auto Owners....

I have had the whole gamut of TSBs done to my 2000, and it still slips 3-500rpm between 1-2 shift. Do we just live with this, or can it actually be fixed? It's still under warranty, but I'm afraid that it will eventually go south on me. Slipping trannys are bad news on domestics, but this is my first experience with an import. Our 99 Max auto shifted solid as a rock. It even scratched second once or twice........

TIA!

SO you are saying you got all the tsb's done except for the tranny TSB???? How does it slip between 3-500rpm??? Or do you mean 3-5000rpm??? If it shifts at 500rpm, than you have one fast shifting tranny and I wouldn't call it a slip...

I have had all of the TSB done. Module, solenoids, ECM reset, yada-yada. When it starts to slip, it the tach needle jumps 300-500 RPM before it "catches". The regional Nissan manager was involved, and he said that if I drove a new one, and could tell a difference, that he would replace it ($5K). I drove a fresh 01 on the lot, and it was the same. I couldn't see putting the same poor design into the car. I guess I'm hoping that Nissan steps up and fixes the tranny right. I've had enough cars in my life to know that it will fail because of this. Regardless of how much improvement Nissan makes in present and future models, things like this give me a case of the a$$.

Do the 2002 shift like this with the extra HP? I haven't driven one yet....

Thanks

Weird. If they replaced the Solenoids and the TCM, it shouldn't slip.. Maybe they didn't give you an upgraded TCM.. Jumping 300-500rpms does sound peculiar. It should drop imediately... There no point in comparing it with another car at the dealer b/c alot of 2k/2k1s have this problem and they don't realize it's a defect...
I didn't realize my tranny was slipping until I got the VB mod done..
Your best chance is jumping from dealer to dealer until one of them accepts it as a slip...

If you don't wanna go through the hassle with dealers, you can always try flushing the tranny, and cleaning the valve body yourself... Who knows.. Maybe it's debree inside your tranny...

I had the same problems on my 2001. The dealer actually agreed with me about the slippage and instead of doing the solenoids and TCM first, the immediately changed the entire tranny for a "new" rebuilt unit from Nissan. So definitely try changing dealers. I had to switch. Only problem is that I still notice the slight lag between 1st and 2nd under 3/4 to full throttle. So I thought this could be a problem with the TCM. Dealer refuses to change this...they feel it shifts "within specs" now. Also my vin #'s do not fall within that original TSB so I guess I'm SOL. While taking the tranny out though..they damaged the lower swaybar link so now it makes this clunking sound over bumps. Have to go back third time to get this taken care of. And my car only has 10k miles on it. Can you say lemon law!!! Hope this helps. Good Luck. Worse comes to worse you can just do some 5 grand neutral drops and blow the whole damn unit....then they'll give you a new one

Same Shifts in 2K2 . .

sterling00max:
. . . yes, the 2K2 shifts sift the same damn way. It truly affects overall performance of this car. IT IS NOT RIGHT. I will be taking this car back to the dealer next Tuesday for this and the rear window road noise TSB. If they can't, don't, or won't fix it, I will trade the car in or sell it, even if it only has 1,200 miles on it. I guess I could go with a Mobiletech VB first though???

98blkmax:
. . . I noticed you have a 1969 Camaro with 975 hp. What kind of et's are you getting with that much power? I too have a '69 RS/SS that I'm coverting to a clone COPO - with a 502c.i./502 h.p. big block, blueprinted but stock with a Procharger on it. I should be pushing around the same hp. I'm just curious???
