If you're y-pipe is leaking, you'll notice a power loss right away..

Would You mind posting a write up?

How much did it cost? Where/which Y-pipe did you get? How difficult was it? Do you feel the extra 11-14 hp's?

I know, lots o questions, but I think this is going to be my next mod. So I'm collecting as much data as possible.

To check for leaks, hold burning incense (or cigarette) near the joints and watch the smoke pattern. I'm assuming you have comfortable access to the bottom of your car to observe this

uh..actually...if you have y-pipe leak..

first of all, your car's going to sound really really loud. say, it's going to sound like u have a 421 Hemi in your car instead of a VQ. the you can notice this 'rumbling' sound right after you turn on your car.

second, you won't really lose power... but instead, a really hesitant low end power, but once you rev up above 3,500rpm, your car's going to shoot out like ****. i had a leak first time i installed the y-pipe and i had much better top end!! but it's just tooooooo loud...

also, check for any areas that have a lot of black build up on them... that may also be the sign of an exhaust leak.

Well I still think he really wants to know how to check for leaks, not HOLES.

like as if you had a small leak where the Ypipe met the Cat, that gasket if not replaced can cause leaks, but barely noticable. I mean you will not hear not be able to tell if there is a powerloss from that type of leak, it is almost like a pinhole.

Only way that will be found is with a incense stick near it.
