Anyone ever remove the tow bar/hitch?

So I have a 99 maxima with a tow bar/hitch on the back. I got my evo2 muffler installed and it bangs against the bar like no other. I just want to know is it safe to remove the whole bar? I have 0 use for it and want it off.. Tried to search google and the org but there's not too much on removing it, input?

It should just be bolted on, so try unbolting it.

Yes agreed I understand that I was just wondering is it ok to remove it? Did it have any original safety meaning? If not I'm just going to unbolt it I just dont know if it's needed/bad to remove it?

Yes the hitch is aftermarket, it's not needed.

Those loops are not for a trailer hitch, they are tie-downs for when the car is shipped. Take 'em off if you don't want them.
