These are the pictures of the Megan Racing CBE installed. Despite 10 or so attempts to loosen and readjust and retighten, uhh....this exhaust looks like ****! It just looks horrible. Email sent to Megan Racing. We will see what comes of this. But honestly, I am so sick and tired of rolling around on the ground and skinning my knuckles up for the same end result....a REALLY ghetto-fabulous looking exhaust. I have NO desire to even look at it again.

Late,
Trav

good luck getting any type of useful response from megan, or even a return.

they are not like tanabe, HKS, advan, japanese companies that actually do real world testing and guarantee fitment and quality.

megan will extract copy measurements from other companies and assume everything will be OK. Maybe sometimes they get lucky, but most times they are junk.

the car industry isn't what it used to be, things were quality back then but then again u pay a lot of money for it back then to.

Now it's cheap but most times it's junk.

Good luck on your resolution with this problem, that looks freaking horrible.

I installed it myself because it was stupid easy.

But yeah...it makes me just wanna light the b**ch on fire every time I look at it.

I do wonder if an exhaust shop would be able to somehow alter the bends a little. GAWD this exhaust sucks.

It sure does sound great...too bad it looks like a 5-yr old put it together.

An exhaust shop should be able to help you. I had Midas install my catback exhaust for my 95' Altima.

Sucks to hear about your fitment issues. I've seen Megan's on several 5th gens, and they all line up nice and straight.

+1 Sometimes even an experienced wrencher gets screwed w/ a part(s) no matter what you do. And sometimes all it takes is getting the car up in the air to fully see whats up & work w/ it but other times can only go so far...
Pretty sure a shop would be able to help adjust or at least make it sit closer-to-spec, or to your liking, but personally I'd have even bigger issue w/ the tips. If you have a shop look/work on it maybe have them put on some 'real' tips. My .02

Thanks guys! Makes me feel better...a little. HATE the fact I spent $750 for something that looks so effin horrible. So...I am going to hike her big a$$ up in the air again in the morning and take everything loose and try ONE more time to line it all up. Either it will work...or it won't.

If not, then Wednesday AM after work, I am going SOMEWHERE to get this fixed.

The company from eBay that I purchased the exhaust from states that any part MUST be installed by an ASE certified technician to qualify for any warranty coverage. Megan Racing....I am not looking for a response from them as I doubt that will ever happen. Maybe I'll be surprised. Either way....that would involve removing the MR exhaust and reinstalling the stock exhaust. THEN paying $100 for shipping the exhaust BACK to MR and then paying another $100 for shipping back to me. OH...and waiting for another system from MR and then removing stock exhaust and reinstalling MR exhaust. The added work of all that and $300 (or more) just isn't worth the effort and skin lost off my shoulder blades.

Will update.

Late,
Trav

Wait, you bought this from ebay? How, exactly, do you know this was a legit item and not like 90% of the rest of ebay and a counterfeit item?

It's not counterfeit. It was drop-shipped directly from Megan Racing warehouse complete with Megan Racing warranty cards and all. I can just tell. With the quality of the wrapping and the quality of parts themselves (nevermind how they bolt together). It looks TOO identical to the photos on their website.

Well maybe the cards are sham also (J/K)... Did you manage to fix the exhaust again as your last attempt?

just get it fixed @ exhaust shop it should be that serious to add 2-3inches of piping

going thru the hassle of returning it n trying to get money back isnt worth it.

why are theese bolt on kits so pricey ?

for 750, a custom job at a muffler shop will give you a full body massage, pour you coffee and provide you a pair of disneyland tickets.

Ehh...well, hindsight is 20-20. Plus, if I ever decide to sell the car, I can put the stock exhaust system back on myself. And yes...I just got out from under the car. Completely took the entire thing off and reinstalled it. No difference. Still ghetto-fabulous. Sounds wonderful and the pieces individually look awesome. Screw it all together and it looks like a$$.

I really hate the idea of a shop hacking on this pretty stainless steel system. I mean, it's only off by 1/2". The passenger side tip is 1/2" lower and sticks out 1/2" further. Enough to notice, obviously. I'm thinking that perhaps they can adjust some of the hangers (fingers crossed). and that's all. Ideally, adjusting the hangers and some of the bends would be all it takes.

Either way...wedsnesday AM after work, I be heading to Farmington, NM to see if someone there can help a brother out.

I will vouch for Megan Racing since I purchased the CAT back for 2010 and it was a perfect fit. There's a lot to say about quality assurance and hopefully they'll work with you to get it right.

I don't get what all the whining is about. megan isn't exactly known for being high quality, you get what you pay for in this hobby. So one pipe sticks out a little more than the other. That can easily be fixed at any exhaust shop, and you can have it polished if the shiny chrome looks is what you are worried about in the end.

I'm glad I got my custom built catback done and it outperforms most of the prefab ones out there

I have been in contact with Megan Racing. They are willing to cover it under warranty, the only problem is they need a Maxima. And they DID NOT just do a copy-cat rendition of someone else's exhaust. They actually HAD a Maxima there at their disposal and "it took them several revisions to get it right". So, they've done the R&D, but crap happens, unfortunately. Soo...I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and perhaps, if I can work it out, then I may bring my car to them to check out. That or more photos.
