Eliminating the resonator and going straight pip really changes the osund. I debated this on my 4th gen. I couldn't eliminate the cat though and I def wanted a muffler becuase I do a lot of highway driving and that=drone zone. Nice sound though hombre

But with stock pre cats on, you always get cool sound, it's the minute you go to headers is when you get drone/loud/obnoxious.

Well the first exhaust mod I did was a Cattman y and it wasnt enough. HAd almost a weird sound to it. I just put on a 16" Magnaflow resonator and a 14" Magnaflow muffler and I love the sound now with no drone but loud when you want it to be. Im a piece it together exhaust minded person over a huge lump sum for a cat-back

Searching for best sound is like chasing a unicorn.

4th gen days:
Catback, straight muffler (small body) No difference
Cat delete, louder
1st gen Stillen Y-pipe too loud
resonator - better
bigger muffler - awesome
new y-pipe WSP - tractor sound, FML (old one died, I still regret sending it to the dump and not fixing it (1st gen Stillen equal length).

5.5 gen
Headers, awesome
cattman B - awesome-er
test pipe - shtty/raspy
new resonator(louvered FTL) too quiet, loss of performance
new resonator(thin bodied) too loud
new resonator(non louvered) + split flow muffer used as resonator) FTW
Cattman 3" + HFC = FTW
Cattman 3" + 2.5" TP = quieter (weird, I know) best, IMO for performance and all around awesomeness.

I would go directly for the 3" test pipe piece, I was in a rush, and went with the 2.5" piece.

This! I didnt have the drone in my exhaust on the highway.

When i got the 3.5 swap and had the same exhaust it was too raspy and didnt sound nothing like the 3.0 did.

The way your car sounds is the way mine did (4th gen DE) with the equal length y- (stock manifolds) test pipe and resonator and very small muffler, bit quieter. This thread brought back memories of those days.

The flange on those are fine. It's the flange holes that look poor but obviously still do there purpose flawlessly.

That list is missing BRM...hopefully some quality vids could change that.

What's wrong with this one for $30 shipped?

I'm pretty sure you just have to cut those four little flanges off then you're good to go.

That sounds really, really good. My set up is all stock except for a resonator delete. It has a smooth, subtle tone to it. The police over the last year have been profiling hard lately, so i'm reluctant to do anything to it to make it louder, other than perhaps going with a Warpspeed Y, which would remove both my precats since it's an 00 fed spec.

I'm still looking for a BRM with headers. I think that would sound good.

Sounds really aggressive but I feel like for a daily driver-type car having an exhaust that loud would get old pretty quickly.
