Car revving between 2nd and 3rd

I have a 2000 maxima, 206k miles and a new problem recently came up. My car is revving (approx. 800-1000 rpm) when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It does it under light, moderate, and heavy loads. I have changed the transmission fluid with no luck to solving the problem. All other gear shifts are great and the car shifts like it should. Any ideas on what to check on?

Does it go away when its cold out? Sounds like the typically transmission issue we all dealt with. No fix besides getting the trans rebuilt. Some people say installing a TransGo shift kit will help.

It is doing this when it is hot or cold. I never had this sort of problem until last week.

The transgo kit probably won't help if the bands and clutches are worn out. At 206k I would guess it's rebuild or replace time. It could be as simple as a band adjustment though, so talking to a reputable professional may be a good idea in this case.

It could also be the shift solenoid for that gear. Nissan issued a Service bulletin about this - NTB00-039d. Replacing the soleniods are a lot less expensive than a transmission rebuild.

So I went to the nissan dealership to have them run the diagnosis. What came back was "LINE PRESSURE S/V". I believe it is reading low line pressure and threw that code. My next steps are to drop the trans pan and put a battery on each solenoid to see if it pops open. Has anyone done this and what are you experience?

most just replace the solenoids if you getting codes for line pressure, I don't blame you though keep going with your diagnosis to ensure you have located the problem. But if it ends up being the issue you can get the solenoid repair kit for 77 bucks(includes everything you need except the tranny pan gasket and fluid ) plus shipping from TriCities Nissan in Tennessee. Good luck

Replacing the solendoids is what I believe is my first option. Since the current transmission has 206k on it and I can hear a slight squeel every now and then, would any of you recommend buying a used transmission from a junkyard and having it installed? What would that cost approximately be?
