Tire size and steering repsonse...?

Do lower profile tires have better steering response?

My 02 SE came with 16" GXE wheels and some horrible off brand "warrior" tries. The thing handles like a boat with understeer galore.

Being 16" tires, they hare higher profile then the stock SE tire fitment. I can push on the car and physically see the sidewalls flexing.

Though my control arm bushings are somewhat worn, I was wondering if buying larger 17's or 18's with some lower profile tires would increase steering response....

I don't think so. A wider tire would though. This all depends on tire quality, soft rubber, ahrd rubber, load rating, etc.

Generally speaking, the lower the profile, the less sidewall flex, the better the response.
Although, tires do vary in performance within the same size also.
