Starting/Sunroof woes

My sunroof has an odd problem. If you press the slide open or tilt switch the sunroof works properly. The odd part is when you close it. If the sunroof is tilted, when you are closing it rather than stopping once it is closed it continues to slide backwards. Same with the slide switch. Rather than stopping once it is closed it continues forward to the tilted position. I can eyeball it to the closed position, but would love to fix this problem myself.

Also, when my first step on my gas pedal in the morning the car seems to hesitate at first, but after just a few seconds settles in and no longer has any hiccups. I say hiccups because it runs slow like something isn't in place, then it sorts itself out. I have learned to be very gentle on it in the morning to not damage the car. I am replacing the fuel filter. It seems odd that it would be the transmission since it only happens the first time I step on the gas pedal. Any insight? Hopefully replacing the fuel filter will help.

Perhaps the car is just cold in the mornings? We need more info rather than just "my car's broke what do?" What year, how many miles. how up to date are you on the maintenance etc. Speaking of that, I would suggest a full round of maintenance. Usually helps clear up those small annoying problems.

Do the sunroof reset. i have to do it every time I disconnect my car battery.

make sure sunroof is closed by using the tilt button. then hold the tilt close button for 5 or so seconds. the sunroof will then reset and be good to go.
Or

Use the sunroof tilt switch to open it all the way (you will have to push it a bunch of times), and then do the same thing to close it all the way. Once you open it and close it all the way using the switch, then try using the slider switch thing, and it should open. If it doesn't, turn your car off and back on and try again. This works almost everytime for me.
