4th gen window smears...? wth

Has anyone else ever noticed the smudging, ugly smears of I don't know what that is left behind when you put your rear windows down?
It's happened with all 4 of my 4th gens. in the last 10 years, has anyone ever done anything about this? Has it/does it happen to you? I'm about to take the damn door panels off and see what the deal is, sick of windexing only to get em all messed up again, or maybe I should stop smoking, idk... feedback appreciated!

hmm if you posted a picture it'd be much easier to diagnose. My first guess is some foreign material (tree sap, pollen, etc) is accumulating on your window and spreads when you roll your window down and up.

No smears here Maybe try taking off your door panels and clean what you can?

That's a good suggestion

No smears for me either. 4 Max's and one I30, no issues.

OP, only the back windows? That's odd for sure.

Gotta be, must be Connecticut, I'm on the shoreline, maybe a mixture of a bunch of stuff, salty air, pollen, dirty winters, hot summers... good thinking

By smears do you mean black sticky stuff?

If so, its the adhesive used on the vapor barriers on your doors. I had it on one of my rear windows for a while. Somehow the adhesive made its may to the parts of the plastic vapor barrier that touch the window when rolled down.
