Hmmm. . . How handy are ya w/ power tools? Go to Home Depot, get yourself a Sawz-All w/ some metal blades & go to town!

Seriously though, a labor quote on that job really depends on how many custom shops do that sort of work in your area. (The more qualified shops, the more competition, the better deal you're likely to get).

As a side note, a sunroof install isn't something for which I would make $ the primary consideration. Just ask anyone who has had a lousy sunroof install if they wish they'd spent a few extra bucks to get it done right. (Leaks, mildew-ed, smelly, stained headliners, etc.)

The most important thing for that job is finding a shop that really knows what they're doing.

Good luck!

VERY RISKY BUSINESS!!!
Don't settle on any old shop that will do it. Find yourself a reputable place and don't make your decision based on the price. A good install will cost you, but it will be well worth it when two years down the road your Maxima is still leak proof and smelling good inside. The best thing to do is find some people who have had sunroofs installed and where they had it done. If you find anyone that has a leak, don't use the place they used. I wish I had a sunroof, but I don't have the b***s to get one installed.

KYB vs. Koni

This could be it's own thread & probably has already been, but here goes:

I was just looking at your "soon-to-come" list in your sig. Go w/ the KYB AGX's instead of the Koni's. AGX is the new King of the Jungle for our cars. Koni is still a fine strut, but Koni had it's day, and that day has ended. The AGX is a better design, costs less, and unlike the Koni, requires no modification for install. (-Just ordered a set for my '95 SE)

Just my .02 cents.

Flame on, but before anyone does, read up on the "internals" of the Koni vs. the KYB. From an engineering standpoint, the KYB AGX is far superior - no question.

Re: KYB vs. Koni

KYB is for Kayaba. A Japanese OE supplier to Nissan. They are made for your Maxi. Koni may be ok but there made for europeeons..." Asian parts on asian cars, Euro parts on euro cars " !

hey

it is not true.... it doesn't mean that it will leak just because it's aftermarket. I think bill99gxe has an aftermarket sunroof in his 3rd gen and no problems. Other people have this as well.....

the labor will be the most expensive thing, I'd say you are lookin at 400$ in labor at least. It is possible and there are places that can do it well, I don't know about a used factory sunroof but, if you buy a new assembly from an aftermarket company, they give you a life time warranty.... also ask the shop if they give some kind of warranty on their labor or something, in case it leaks so they can fix it.

This is one thing I wanted in my car.. a sunroof...

if you want to be on the safe side, you can have the sunroof factory installed for 800 buxx. If u wanna be cheap..... goto yor local performance store and they'll hook u up for like 300, but that kinda suxx cause it wont be the electric kind, its gonna be one of those crappy pop up ones.
