2002 Max throwing P1147 and P0139

My 02 is throwing P1147 and P0139. I think they both refer to O2 sensor. Could someone provide clarity on which O2 sensor needs to be replaced and if i should be looking for other symptoms that will verify this is the problem point? The car runs perfectly ok but has occasional pings. I have tried low octane and high octane and get occasional pings on both grades of gas. I do burn about a quart every 2K miles if that is relevant to this question.

Thanks much. This is v useful. Could you help with which code relates to which O2 sensor? I am throwing P1147 P and P0139 P per my code reader.

0139 = HO2S2 (Heated Oxygen Sensor 2) B1 = bank 1 = rear bank, next to fire wall, White sensor plug.

1147 = Closed Loop Control, because of that sensor I just mentioned.

They're related because the O2 sensor is dead.

Not sure what else there is to know here.

Thanks much. I do appreciate your help. I called rock auto and they recommended i check out after market like Denso O2 sensors. They are made to be OEM quality but at 25% to 40% of the cost of nissan cost. Just for comparison,

Bosche is $61
Denso is $62
Nissan at Courtesy is $153

Any issues going after-market for O2 sensors when they are all made to OEM specs?

Oftentimes the connector needed to be modified, but I'm sure in this day and age, you should be fine, no modifications needed.

Ok I recently bought my 03 and a few weeks after I got it SES light comes on and it is p0139 and p1147. Cleared it once and it came back. I of course did the search and found this thread and thought my problem was solved.. installed Bosch 02 sensor from Rockauto, cleared code and thought everything was fine. Both of the same codes came back. Cleared them again and they came back again.

Is there anything else that would be making these codes come up or could the new o2 sensor be bad as well? Car is running great.. no issues there.

Check the fuel railing pipe etc

My maxima had OBD codes that said all my rear O2 sensor were dead but the codes had a common similarity, fuel pressure.

mechanic confirmed the fuel filler neck was all rusted etc and when they messed with the fuel filler neck, gas cap etc the obd codes disappeared.

Maybe you have similar issue?
