Ive got a 95 gxe auto without all the extra emission stuff on it. Ive. Noticed a gas fume smell while the car is running and i looked under the hood and its stronger there near the firewall. I dont see anything leaking and i dont kno wat hoses to check. Seems strong near the fuel filter and charcoal canister thing. The only codes i have are for the knock sensor and oxygen sensor.

 

Old cracked fuel lines before and after the filter, and also the return line. Just replace them instead of wondering.

What is fuel line size in 96 Maxima ? ( length and bore for one on top of filter )
What kind of fuel line you buy ( like braided or regular )

 

The size of the fuel hose it 8mm, same as 5/16 inch. I got mine at advanced auto parts for like $1. Make sure you get fuel injection hose and not a regular fuel hose

 

Better find the source and keep an extinguisher in the car!

 

Well i tightened up everything. I dont kno if it may be coming from the oil that leaks on the exhaust pipe from the leaky rear valve cover? Would that produce that smell

 

burning oil does not smell like gas

 

Hmm i dont kno would a combo of both oil and antifreeze leaking produce the smell? Its more of a gas fume smell mixed with a smell of coolant. I just replaced the radiator because it was leaking and the fans would come on and blow coolant around.i havent smelled it as of yet so im hoping it was that.
