New to 7th Gen, Important Res Question
I am new to this forum but I see this is the place to be as a maxima owner. I recently Purchased a 2009 Maxima with the sport/tech Nav package. After looking around on here I saw some speculation the the resolution on the 7" screen is only 240x360 QVGA while the 2010 and up its improved to 640 x 480. I am desperatly trying to figure out if this is true??
Also Can someone tell me exactly what the tech package includes??
I really appreciate the help.

I'm not sure about the screen resolution, but the 2009 Maxima Tech Package includes:
Hard Drive Navigation System with 7.0" color touch screen monitor, voice recognition, and XM Nav Traffic (requires subscription).
9.3GB Music Box hard drive and CompactFlash slot for playing MP3WMA files.
XM Satellite Radio (requires subscription).
RearView Monitor (already standard in Premium package).
Interface system for iPod with center console storage net (already standard with Premium package).
Auxillary audio/video input jacks in center console (replace auxillary audio input jack located on head unit) (already standard with Premium package).
With the Tech package, the 6 CD changer is replaced by a single CD slot, as the Music Box holds all the music from your CDs on hard drive.
With this package, the compass is removed from the rear view mirror because there is a compass on the color monitor.
I hope this helps.

Does anyone know if the screen resolution and software are different from the 2009 vs 2010+? If so, can you share your thoughts?
Here is the ONLY mention that I was able to find about this Screen Resolution topic. Even then, it's a Press Release that's vague and doesn't give much technical detail: http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/u...xima-press-kit
After a complete re-design in 2009, the 2010 Maxima returns with just minor revisions to its interior. These enhancements include a standard 7” colour monitor, 2GB hard drive music box, USB input, an Auxiliary Audio/Video input jack and iPod Net in centre console. Also new for 2010 are available features including DVD Playback capability, 4x higher screen resolution, and Bluetooth® with Streaming Audio.
- DVD Playback is added, and supports Dolby DTS, DivX
- Ability to self-update Nav Maps using a DVD (whereas the 2009 model still forces dealer intervention)
- iPod Connectivity Jack is replaced by a USB Jack
What I DON'T know is if the actual software (e.g. menu buttons, layout, options) is different, or if any bugs got ironed out in the 2010+.
I know on the 2009 the Nav is a lower resolution and the 2010 is higher it was talked about a while back here.
And the Nav update process with an 09 its DVD based and than in 2010 they changed that as well..

Would you be able to help me find that thread about the 2009 vs 2010 Nav? I, too, am new to the 7th gen Maxima and want to make sure that my purchase decision is a sensible one (e.g. I would hit myself if I went in a 2009 only to find out the Tech package was super outdated).
I believe the Bluetooth functionality was updated also, to allow for streaming of music via a bluetooth device. XM is also more functional, allowing for setting of favorite artists, etc.
Having just upgraded from a 2009 w/Tech to a 2012 Premium with Tech, I can say that the redesigned software is nice. The screen resolution is nice at first, but the road line with traffic info are a bit finer and harder to see at a glance. All in all, the 2009 tech package was quite nice. If you get a great deal on a used one, don't let it kill the deal.
I would push to get the maps updated as part of the deal. My 2009 had a problem where the dealer could not get the maps to load - and only the dealer can do the update.
