Moving to VA, need front license plate :(
Sorry if this has been talked about, but this site runs very slow on my computer and it takes forever to search.
I'm moving to Virginia and will need to have a front license plate on my Max.
Question - What's the best way to mount one? I'm assuming there is a plastic bracket I could buy that bolts to the front, and the plate attaches to it, correct? Any other, cleaner thoughts on how to do it?
Also, if I do need to get one of those brackets, anyone know where or who I can get one from for cheap?
Thanks!

less than 10 bucks, OEM front plate bracket.

part 62740 in the above diagram for your 2009 SV
And from a fellow front-plate stater...I'm sorry

hahaha NO.
He's referring to a front plate holder that's motorized...made for car shows and what-not...you can drive (and show the car) with teh plate not showing, but when you need the plate to show flip a switch and the motor folds the plate out and it's visible.
They run around 150 bucks iirc

Ahhhhh, got ya. I just googled it. Very cool idea, but I can see with my luck, I'd get pulled over, flip it upright, and the cop would go rip it off my car LOL
Looks like I'm tapping into my beautiful baby's front bumper...

haha thanks
That's the F-22 Raptor flying over Seattle. When I worked at Boeing (who builds the wings for the F-22), one of my coworkers had a big poster of it in his cubicle...he emailed me the picture and I've had it for years.

another member took his OEM license plate bracket, flipped it upside down and trimmed it some, and has his plate mounted off-center down by the lower grill area, zip tied on. looks nice and barely cost a thing, as well as doesnt ruin the smooth look of the front bumper

i have mine needing to be done too, ive been lazy and just jammed the plate in my front windshield on the inside

Do we know if the 2 indents in the front bumper match up to the holes in the license plate? Could I just get a nice looking license plate frame and bolt it directly to the bumper instead of using a bulky bracket? Or would that be WAY to convenient? lol
lol you got Vossens be quiet, if i ever move to dubs they're gonna be Vossens
here's a pic of the bracket trimmed (courtesy of C.Zulauf)

so its flipped upside down, trimmed, has a few holes for zip ties, and is zip tied cleanly on the driver side lower grill area. just use something to protect the paint where it touches the car
i dont think those two indents match up to anything but a bracket. if you mounted the plate directly there though it'd cover them up so wouldnt really matter, but you'd need some pilot holes drilled for the plate mounting screws
Very nice! Probably should have known that... I work for a direct competitor of Boeing and we make a lot of the flight controls for the F-22... shame on me...
Do we have any pics of this? I definitely want it to look as clean and un-bulky as possible.

These devices can read several tags per second on cars in all lanes near the patrol car, EVEN ONCOMING LANES. Not only can these things read tag numbers, but instantly match them against a computerized list of wanted tags, and alerts the officer when it gets a 'hit'.
As I see it, our best hope in avoiding front tags in every state will be the inevitable arrival of tags with transponders that will respond to any patrol car's computer query. Once that system arrives, front tags will be unnecessary anywhere.

have to trim the finds in the lower grill a little but its awesome WAY better then spending money on a OEM and trying to fiddle with it for an hour or two
simple 2 bolts and cut the center fin on the lower grill on TOP and bang your done
