2012 Maxima sound system question, bass sucks

im new here, so hi everyone...

im a proud owner of a brand new 2012 Maxima SV Sport with all the available options... Black on Black...

only thing is, the bass SUCKS... its loud, but it doesnt go deep.

what are my options to improve the bass quality and depth?

i was thinking replacing the stock 6X9s with Tang Bands 6X9s or the CDT HD-690CF 6x9 subs...

or, get a 6x9 to 6.5 adapter and install some tang band subwoofers "since i have 4 brand new ones laying around" and add a little amp, something like 100-150watts X 2.

i really dont want to install a huge box in the trunk, or anything audio related in the trunk.

has anyone done anything like this before? maybe install 8"s or 10"s instead of the 6x9s, not sure if theres room for them, havent really looked.

thanks in advance...

IMO I don't think any 6x9's whether sub or or mid range will get as low or have that punch you're looking for. I say add a single 10" in the corner of the trunk will suffice.

This is what I did. I've made a few for some on the forums. There's some threads about it.

I agree. The first thing I noticed after driving of the lot was the Bose is garbage. In order to get deep, loud bass from a free-air speaker on the rear deck you'd have to make the trunk air tight so that the trunk acts as the enclosure. I don't use my trunk often so I added a 12" ported sub and it sounds beautiful.

How much for the enclosures?

Are we talking about simply adding a sub to the factory system? How would you do that?

Noticed something similar myself.

I have the Bose system on my 2012, and the rear deck 6x9 subs are not pushing near the bass that my stock, non-Bose stereo did in my old 2007 Maxima SE. I have the bass turned all the way up...and the rear deck subs push less than my base stereo did in the 2007 at +2 bass setting. However, above mid-way volume sound quality is tons better with the Bose, and the front door 6x9 subs are thump way better than the 6.5s did in the 2007. The Bose rear deck speakers seem to be lacking...or are not getting the power they could be or handle from the amp.

The cheap way is to just use a hi/lo converter to tap into the rear deck speakers. Or use the expensive option and use a bass processor to tap into the rear deck speakers.

A processor cleans up the signal and gets rid of the way a lot of stock amps take out the bass when you turn the volume up loud. Not sure if the Bose does it but I haven't noticed it.

I'm actually looking to sell the both subs and enclosures. I'm thinking of going with air suspension so I will need to change up the way the trunk is set-up so I'm gonna go with a 10W6 on one side.

Yes the bose set-up does tune the bass down once you go past half volume. You can just ignore like I did for now or go with the audiocontrol LC2i that is made to be calibrated to take away the drop in bass from factory systems when the volume is turned up.

I do them upon request. my work has a JL account so I make them for the JL subs. Makes for a much cleaner install vs making them for a sub that I don't have in my hands

Hello,

I'm looking to add 2 12" subs or just 1 12" subs. I've heard that adding the hi/lo convertor creates noise in the system (I forgot the term they call it)

Do you by any chance know what type of "Processor" you are speaking of ? any links ?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I like what you did with the dual sub enclosures.

1. You created 10" enclosures are they made specifically for the JL subs as to specs for optimal sound ?
2. Do you make 12" enclosures ?
3. What was the cost for the 2 x 10" enclosure you made for other members ?

I'm looking to use my older subs and amp from my old car. Right now the subs are in a custom made box, which was designed specifically for the sub air space, cubic ft etc etc.. The subs I have are Rockford Fosgate Hx2 12" dual 2ohm I believe and the am is Rockford fosgate BD1000.1 amp.

Thanks, I wil look into that.

A friend of mine is diverse in the SPL scence and he said that the bose system to give some sort of feedback with the Hi/lo converters.

Then again you guys are saying the systems are fine.. humm

Are you all running 1 x 12" or 1 x 10 or 2 x 10" or 2 x 12" subs ?

one 12" ported. I believe it's 800 watts and the amp is 1,000 watts. I like to have a little headroom so I have the extra power if I ever wanted to upgrade.

2 10" subs

SPL guys are good at making things loud, not necessarily clean and clear. Maybe he's talking about if you're running a 4 channel amp, but the frequency of subs is too low for the amp to pick up any feedback.

Very true but the logic is equal for both sides. Less distortion makes a good boom..lol
