Anyone with a 96 have a PR CAI?

I have a 96 and decided to lose the Stillen Pop and go to PR CAI. I noticed that the 96 has a sensor at the intake that the 97-99's don't have. Does the CAI provide a whole for the sensor or did you have to make one yourself or something. I was thinking about keeping the stillen cone because it had the whole. Also, can the sensor reach that far or does it need to be made longer?

the place racing has the proper holes in it for all 4th gens. All the 4h gens have sensor but the 95/96 mounts different than the 97-99.

Thanks...what about the sensor reaching...does it need to be extended?

I have a 96 GLE and it had the right holes for the sensor. I had to buy new hoses cuz my old ones were kinda worn but other then that everything fit fine.

I bought mine direct from PR and it had the hole for the sensor already to go, the sensor reached with no problem. The only engineering came when it came time to put on the hoses from the other big vaccum hoses, they don't fit as oem. I went to local auto parts and they let me look and try and fit different hose combos until i found the one that fit it perfect. Be careful though one of the hoses that ended up working best for me, the one that controls the idle, was $15.00 by itself. To me it was worth it since I made the oem fit and it popped off and caused my car to die at idle until I found the problem and replaced the hose with a longer one, now it purrs like before. Other than that PR CAI's are very good about sendinig you all the hardware and even offer support if you get stuck installing. Good luck.

What vaccum hoses? Why would you need to replace them?

I have a 96 SE and purchased a PR CAI. The install was easy. The hardest part was cutting the hole!. The sensor and hoses reached with no problem. The only thing was there is 2 holes for the senor screws on the pipe. There we not big enough so I hid to get a reamer and widen them. I also placed silicon on the plate you screw into. I was worried if the screws got lose the plate would get sucked into the intake. I doubt the screws would get lose but I wanted to be safe. I hope this helps.

There are two hoses you have to connect back when doing the CAI install. One comes from the top of the engine, like old egr valves used to, and the other goes to a big sensor which monitors and controls the idle speed. I know it controls the idle because as i said before, it worked itself loose, since it didn't fit right in the first place and my car wouldn't idle. I went and bought, by trial and error, a couple of basically heater hoses and it now runs perfect.

Excellent point. It is a good idea when installing this sensor to dab a little silicone and lock tite to the plate and screws so they dont work loose since the only place to go is in the TB. Also very true that the trickiest part is cutting out the hole. One good idea is to use the boot off the Mass sensor, which you won't need anymore, as a grommet for the CAI to keep from rubbing on the metal. Hope this helps anyone.
