Under perfect operation what should spark plugs look like??

I had a web page saved of all the different colors and looks of plugs under diferent situations, but I can't seem to find it. It showed what plugs looked like if your car was burning oil, running hot, ect. ect. Anyone have a good link??

Your plugs should have a brownish/gray/carbon color. They should still have the factory gap, and the electrode tip should be sharp (if you're talking about NGK plugs). If the plugs are sooty, have lots of carbon build up, then your running to rich and possibly not getting good ignition. If they are wet with oil, then you're getting cylinder ring blow-by. If they are whitish and the electrodes look slightly melted, then you're running dangerously lean. If the electrode prong is bent towards the electrode, then your piston slapped the plug (rare).

Almost any Chilton's manual should also have a bunch of pictures similar to that webpage (good link, btw). At least they used to (have them in colour).

On the back page of every Haynes repair manual (for any car) there is a color comparison of spark plugs. Best resource I can think of for what you are asking for.
