Clutch Fluid Leak and Slippage

I have a 97 Nissan Maxima, and took her on a nice long trip to florida (from CT). Getting back from this trip I found several problems that had to be replaced (starter, radiator and fan assembly).

When the starter went in Florida, we would just pop start it, which I knew would cause some wear and tear on the clutch. Since I've been back, just about every other day I have to fill the clutch/brake reservoir. I haven't noticed any fluid leaking directly under neath the car, but the clutch has become to slip majorly. I can hit the throttle to the ground, and you just hear the car rev as it would be in neutral.

Any thoughts as to what can cause this? Or has anyone had this problem? I want to do as many things to save the clutch as possible before having to change it *cause it is a ****** but its a last resort.

1) You need a new clutch
2) You have a leak in the clutch hydraulic line or slave cylinder.

Well I guess the clutch will have to be changed. I looked at the slave...theres no fluid leakage around it, however the master cylinder looks pretty wet. Prolly gonna have to change that thank you for your advice!

Could be the hose between reservoir and MC. The clutch might have gone bad due to the mushy pedal causing it to drag rather than fully disengage.

the fluid could be leaking in the bellhousing which would get fluid onto the clutch and cause it to slip

The slave cylinder is externally mounted. There is no fluid inside the bellhousing.

no fluid is SUPPOSED to be inside the bellhousing. how would you explain where the fluid is disappearing to?

LOL that's a really good one, clutch fluid leaking into the clutch/flywheel and causing it to slip.

is it not possible that fluid could be passing the piston in the slave cylinder down the withdrawl lever and onto the release bearing which is inside the bellhousing?

It still wouldn't get onto the clutch disc.
