1997 vq20de cefiro

i have a 97 cefiro with a vq20de in it and its idling rough and hesitating on acceleration. i started the engine and removed one coil connection at a time and found one tht didnt sound like it made a difference. i replaced that coil but im still having the same problems if not its got worse. any ideas on what my next step should be?

hook up a OBDII scanner and see if you can get any codes. otherwise, check your sparkplugs and see if you need new ones, and clean the mass air flow

Swap coils with another cylinder. If it follows the coil you need a new coil. If it stays with the cylinder do a compression test. Its gonna be spark, fuel, or compression.

Do you notice excessive smoke coming out of the back when you accelerate? If yes then it's your MAF (airflow meter).
From the engine size you might be from Europe. Go to the Nissan dealer and ask them how much does a new MAF cost. If they want to rob you then go to a junkyard and get another one from a scrapped car.
Before doing all this be sure you clean you intake , airflow meter (MAF), change the fuel filter , oil and plugs would be a good idea.
