91 maxima bmw headlight conversion

I know there's a lot of info on this, can anyone post any links on how-to do this conversion? Not looking for Angel eyes necessarily, the e36 lights would do just fine

Is there a specific year that would be the only fit? Or a certain generation of BMW?

I have a bunch of pictures of my swap from years ago. I don't have a write up but most of the pictures are self explanatory. I'll try to post a Dropbox link tonight if you're interested.

The wiring is super straight forward too, just split it out

You want the third generation 3 series, I believe model years were 92-98

Your SE looks nice with the e-36 headlights, amber corners and lip kit.

Thanks, that was all 2004ish. I actually don't even have that VE anymore, I do have a black VE 5 but not that particular one. Most of the goodies from it are on my blue VE currently though

Yeah, basically the same thing. On the 3rd gen it's technically more of a "lip kit" because it augments the stock bumpers rather than replacing them like most "body kits". Here's my full kit:

pics? you know, I almost feel bad for owning this after seeing all the VE 3rd gens, mine is a year too late for that better engine, looks like I'll be missing out but after taking it to a mechanic to get it checked out, the only thing wrong with it is the cv axle is damaged, no other major problems, not bad for the 1200 i paid

Don't remember where I got the wheels. It was online somewhere. They're SportMaxx brand (now known as XXR I believe) With 22mm spacers to clear the brakes. For ***** and giggles here it is over the years.

nice, man I really want to go mod crazy on mine but I almost feel like it wouldnt really be worth it on a VG engine, seems like VE or higher is the way to go. what strikes me as odd though is that the rims on my maxx look like the ones off the 92 SE, I cant find ANY pics of a 91 stock with those rims. Was there a weird transition between the 91 and 92's?

The VG block is one of Nissan's best and they can take a beating. My boy just sold his '90 se with almost 400,000 miles on original VG block and A/T.

It's because you have a VG powered SE, so you have the SE trim and wheels but the VG engine. 89-91 SE's had VG's, and 92-94 SE's had the VE.

so its basically the same car but with different engines, i see now. I will say for being such an old car its kept its shape pretty well, I had a 90 toyota camry v6 before this car that had a lot of issues, mostly with the radiator

Oh how the jealousy flows through my veins, I wish I didn't have to pay someone else to do all that work for me, I can't afford to screw something up myself haha

James is one of the few that actually did the E36 conversion that came out pretty damn good. Funny to actually see your old pics of your first 3rd gen but luckily you got rid of that hidious shopping cart wing on your 3rd gen. How the years just fly by.

Yeah, it is. It has to be modified quite a bit to fit (contour wise and you have to add a couple inches to it) and I never quite fully finished it. You can see in the light in that pic some of the fiberglass work needed some more TLC. It's in the attic now but I'll get around to it one day. I always meant to make a mold of that one then create a new/complete one piece spoiler.
