redline in between 5-5500 rpm?

Lately I've been noticing that sometimes when im driving, and give the car about 80-90% throttle it acts like the rev limiter kicks in. It doesn't do it all the time just some times. Any possible causes? Could i be running out of fuel? I know i need a tune but haven't been able to get one yet. Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like an intermittent MAF issue. Codes?

I haven't checked, but the check engine light isn't on.

Also it seems to do it mostly after the car has warmed up and its cold outside.

I've never heard of a MAFS tripping a light unless it's a complete short/dead

I just recently replaced it about 12-15,000 miles ago. They die that fast?

Any part can fail at any time.

Most MAF's fail sooner than they should due to air filter oil (K&N for example) . Others just because it's a cheaply manufactured part in China, because many aftermarket parts don't have the best quality control, so it's a roll of the dice on how long it will actually last under normal operating conditions.

When you say like it hits a rev limiter does it stop increasing in the RPMs but hold a steady RPM, does it just fall back to an idle....?

It bounces just like you hit the rev limiter, until i shift to the next gear. I just got back from driving it earlier, and i was playing around and it didn't do it so????????

I wonder if your tach is inaccurate and you are hitting a rev limiter

That would be easy enough to check if you have something like Torque Pro or Dash Command. Just pull the RPM's from your ECU.
