Ecu removal

I have a 5.0 gen max and I'm trying to remove the ECU. Found the link in the stickies only to be redirected repeatedly to the ECU Resetting link: http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...tting-ecu.html

How did anyone get to the four screws on the ecu? I lost a phillips bit to the carpet and I am pissed. Help please.

I have a 5th gen and have taken the ECU out before. I decided to take the two bolts on the ECU bracket off and take out the whole thing together. The 2 bolts are towards the rear of the car and you will need to get all the wiring off from the top of it. Hope that helps. It is very tricky

Success

Fitting my 6'4 frame into the driverside floor area (via fetal position) I was able to see the 10 mm bolts and go to work from there. Aside from that, the ecu removal link in the stickies is STILL bad. It redirects to the resetting ecu link. Someone appears to be sleeping on the job

Toshetoooooo!!!!!

Had an Akira moment there. Thanks for the response. I found out about those bolts about 45 min ago and it was not a pretty site. I greatly appreciate your help, because I thought I was going to get some of those responses referring to the stickies.

Tosheto, did you cut those tie down straps? I try to keep everything in the car intact. After this debacle, I don't think I want to put the two bolts back in. Just slap those black panels back on both sides. I managed to get the four screws off of the bracket without moving the wiring harness. Definitely sucked though.

I might have cut a couple. You can use pliers and take them off. But if you got the 4 screws out you can just slide out the ECU. I I could not get to the 4 screws that's why I took the 2 bolts off and took out the whole thing with the bracket.
