Engine bogs when clutch is pressed

Often, when my car has been in the same gear at a constant speed for more than 30 seconds or so and i press the clutch, the engine rpms will drop to 300-400 or so for a moment, like it is going to stall, and then returns to the normal 600-700. At the same time the dash fan will slow down, but the lights do not dim and the radio stays the same. Is this abnormal/serious, or should i not worry about it? My fateher's truck does not do this.
Thanks, Chris
P.S. I searched but didnt find anything about this specific occurrance

If you near-stall the engine the electicals will appear to dim. I would try to rule out battery/charging problems first, but then return to the Throttle Body and Idle Air Control Valve to ensure they are properly able to handle the rapid change from high RPM to idle.

Do you have the same cold-start near-stall problem that a few of us have been having? If so, clean the black soot from around the butterfly in yor Throttle Body. Do a search for some instructions. This may be the cause of both, as the cold-start near-stall and drop-to-idle near-stall both relate to the car's ability to idle smoothly without relying on the Idle Air Control Valve.
