Shocks and brake help

So my front shocks, as well as my pads and rotars have gone to ****. I would like to attempt to do my front brakes and front shocks using the guides on the sticks in the how to's, but I want to see who has done them first before I start just in case. So who here has actually done this before and not look over the page 5 million times like me? Lol

Its not that difficult to do. First off, what brand shocks are you buying? Is your car already aligned?

If you're going to do struts, you may want to inspect your strut boots... I suspect they may be in rough shape so it's a great opportunity to replace them.

Yes I was planning on it. I just simply want some feedback from someone whose done their fronts like in the how to's (or without for the matter) just so I know if there are any problems I'm likely to run in to.

Use a spring compressor.

Most members on here have done both, many times.

Is that all you wanted out of this thread, to see who's done it?

I did as well... you will need to get spring compressor tool for "coils" from Advance Auto/Autozone or other stores that offer them for rent and few wrenches and maybe a pipe for leverage, as bottom bolts might be hard to get off

got something even better for you - http://www.vbxmaxima.8m.com/shocks.html

Make sure to replace all rubber parts on the struts, might as well since you are there. Its a fairly easy job to do. Make sure you have all parts needed before starting the job.

Get your self a breaker bar if you dont already have one to get the two strut bolts off. One of mine was so rusted on that I snapped two sockets and an extension. PB blaster also helps to get the most stubborn bolts off. Get yourself an alignment after a strut job. Dont listen to others that say you dont need one Or you will see your front tires fade away in the wind. Ask me how I know this.

Brakes and rotors are really easy as well. Follow the how to's and the advice of others and you will be just fine.

Ive done brakes and struts on countless cars. Brakes are a no brainer. Struts are more difficult and there is enough stored energy in the springs to kill you, be careful.

Have done both
For springs, I'd recommend a clamshell type spring compressor and for rear calipers you need a good tool to turn in the piston. The front caliper pistons are much easier to reset.

I have.

Front brakes are easier than the rear. Front struts are harder 'cause they require an alignment.

Do Not. Per the FSM, camber, caster, and kngpin inclination are not adjustable. If alignment did get changed during the strut install, it couldn't be corrected anyway.

i replaced my front and rear suspension yesterday.
its not hard, get a spring compressor from advanced auto parts, rent it out for like 52 bills. if u have air tools the whole process will take no more than 2 hours. i didnt, took me like 6, with all them rusty bolts.

so for front, take off the wheel, remove 2 bolts that hold the strut in the axle im guessing, then remove the top 3 bolts under ur hood, take out the strut, compress the spring, take off the top bolt, remove strut mount, take out the spring, put the spring on the new shock( make sure that while ur removing/ tighting the strut mount bolt u clip the shock with like pliers and.... umm w.e just make sure the shock doesnt spin while ur tightening/loosing the strut mount bolt, cause if u move it too much seals break and ur shock will leak out. also while takin out the strut from ur car or putting it back in dont be afraid to twist ur axle around to make it go in/come out
