New Maxima Owner - Need advice

I recently purchased a 2010 maxima sv with 22k miles on it. It had a few dings in it so I got painless dent repair done on it and its looking better. I was trying to find a body shop that could buff the scratches and swirls out of my car and the guy that did my paint less dent repair referred me to a shop. I talked to the guy a d he said he would have to keep the car for one and a half days to detail it completely.

Tl;dr - Is $350 a fair price for exterior auto detailing for a day and a half work?

Thanks for anyone's help in advance.

I base those type of expenditures on numerous factors. Do I have the skills/time to do it myself and how annoyed would I be if I didn't get the work done? I've found that the minute I start questioning work or second guessing costs associated with repairs means that I didn't do enough research beforehand. Although I have not seen your cars damage firsthand I would say that the price seems reasonable to me.

Thank you for your response. I work 16 hour days throughout the week and 8 hours on Saturday so I really don't have time for anything

As far as the damage there are numerous scratches all over the car and the swirls are also pretty noticeable in the sun. I think the investment will be well worth it since I only paid 19 for the car itself.

Thanks again!

if he knows what he is doing and does paint correction on each panel I'd say yea that's worth it. your car should look brand new if done correctly.

Well, I've never had that particular type of work done, but even assuming there are no material costs that's only $30 an hour for labor, I would guess that's at least in the right ballpark.

Ask him for a referral or two. Ask him for the names of customers that have needed similar correction. If he does quality work that is a fair price.

Check out the shop and ask if you can see any "work in progress" detailing.
You can always google search his shop and look for feedback from past customers.

Price sounds good to me.

The cost of an exterior detail depends on where you go and what you have done. A lot of jobs are charged by the hour. I would imagine that if you took it to a shop that you would pay anywhere from $80 to $120 for an exterior detail with polish and wax. If you have serious swirls to remove then it will be more. It just depends on the damage.

I agree with holes one. A reputable Detailer should be able to provide many references for you to speak with. Also, the overall condition of the shop is a clue as well. If its sloppy with crap everywhere that tells you that this isn't the type of person that you want working on your Max. You want someone that's a bit **** retentive which shows an attention to detail - no pun intended.

Got the work done and he did a decent job. I did notice a few tiny deep scratches ill have to get touched up but the swirls are gone and I can notice the flake in the paint a lot more.

My first mod will of course be tint

After that I want to look into getting better headlights / bulbs not sure how it works. (Will have to do my research on here) then replacing the interior lights with LEDs

Agree 96blkmax, in fact I don't see enough blue max's around as it is.
You have also put some time and effort into your rides finish, looks great!

Sorry to bump an old thread but I didn't feel like creating a new thread would be appropriate...

I've been having a hard time thinking of things to mod my car with. I've messed with plastidip on my 5th gen, which is also blue, to get a feel for it, and I just don't feel like its a good look.

I would appreciate any ideas to do to mod the car, especially rim finish/color. I figured chrome would be the only thing that really flows with the car.

You should! it is crazy how good it makes the car look and took like 10 minutes to do.

Now I need to find out if I want 5k hids to match or go with 6k
