Just Looking For Some Opinions On Simple Exterior Mods

So I think I am going to do a few mods to my Maxima real soon. I'm finally starting to like roof spoilers, but now I cant decide what color to go for. Opinions? Any places online like ebay to get a cheap one?

Also, had a plan all winter to paint my calipers red, but now Im thinking maybe black to stick with the scheme already. Thoughts or different color suggestions?

Im open for other mods too if anyone would like to throw something out there. Not into body kits though. Just spent 8 hours yesterday detailing. Washed, clay-bared, polished, waxed, and interior. Pic coming soon

I say get a black roof wing. I have premium pkg also, I got a black wing, love it. If you don't want to spend a lot on Stillen's roof wing, look up ShadowSpeed on eBay. Shadowspeed is a seller from Taiwan (?), and lots of us have bought it from him. Ships pretty dang fast, and is a good product. Smaller than stillen's. IMO that's a good thing.

Calipers, I'd say don't go red. If you did, I'm sure it'd look good. But it's a little expected, and why not add a little flair instead. Red would add "sport" to it, another color would add "flair". Black is better than nothing, but add some color. Gold? Copper? Blue? Have fun with it. If you don't like it it's easy to change it to black later.

Other mods, is your car tinted? That should be #1 for every person on these forums. Lol. Just make sure that's done before anything else.

If you want to go big, have your headlights custom painted. That's one of the biggest things you can do to transform your look. Not cheap though unless you do it yourself.

I just installed eibach lowering springs, and I love it. Never thought I'd be the kinda guy to lower my car, but it has been an awesome mod so far. Never seen a single person on here who did it and regretted it.

For a roof spoiler there are one or two reputable sellers on eBay. I purchased mine from shadowspeed if I remember correctly. Black would look subtle but if you're into color matched roll with it.
As far as painting brakes, stay away from anything contrasting. I removed my rotors and calipers and painted them gloss black. I wanted the brakes to be clean but not flashy. Less is more in my opinion.
As far as other mods there are always eibachs, the stillen products, and a variety of oem infinity and Nissan wheels that enhance these cars.

Yea car is already tinted 5% on the back three and 20% or 30% on the front 2. And thanks for the feedback on shadowspeed (both of you). I will look into that. If worse comes to worse I'll get both colors and see what I like better in person. The calipers are going to be a toughy though. I've thought blue before just because my interior lights are blue lights. Custom headlights are beautiful but way to pricey. If anything I would want 2012 tail lights. Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated

The roof wing would be a nice addition. Lowering the car makes a difference in the look of the car as well. Like others have done here, I used PlastiDip on my grill.

since you have the premium and black roof, I would get the black roof spoiler. The color matched one would break up the roof and back glass and look out of place IMO.

If you are going with a black theme, you also swap out your grill for a black one as well.

You got tint on the windows...have thought about tinting the tails and side mirror signals? The headlights definitely bring the whole look of the front together. I met up with Ghozt over the weekend he hooked me up with mine and I am loving the car much more since I got them done.

Of course lowering the car and the front lip will also change the look of the car as well.

You could also get rid of the chrome trim around the windows as well, if you are going black.

I am thinking of getting a color on my brakes, but for my brakes and rotors are just black and definitely look better than just the rusted up stocks that we all end up with.

For simple exterior mods, like others are saying, roof spoiler from shadowspeed or happybuyitnow. Both can be found in Ebay. Painting the grill would make a subtle difference. Since your not into body kits, lower your Max. I have a friend that lowered it on coils slammed no body kit and it looks sexy and phat. He just got wheels and it looks even sexier.

BTW njpunkmusic Im from Jersey as well.

I had a Sterling Mist 03 Max and I painted my roof deflector body color. Also, this is'nt considered a mod by everyone but I like to get rid of the cheap black plastic valve stem covers and put on a set of colored ones.

How'd you black out the chrome window trim? That's something I've wanted to do for a while but won't do anything not easily reversible since I am on lease

What part of Jersey? I'm central. And as for the grill, not going to do that since I have an E&G chrome grill. I like the elegance of it.

A few others and myself just used 3M gloss black vinyl to cover the window trim. A few others have also taken them off and painted them. I would go with vinyl just because if you sell the car or leasing it, then you can always pull it off and go back to stock if you wanted/needed to.

I'm thinking of using the black vinyl myself. I will be looking at doing something similar with my headlights. You sir, have a very nice ride!

Thanks, been there and saw that.
I actually like when members think out of the box on new modifications.
Plans are to cut the lip to fit my lower mounted front plate, maybe not?
Be nice not to have the front plate requirement....

To anyone who has installed the shadowspeed roof wing I have a question. It says you need to stick it on with adhesive. My only fear is if I dont like it and want to remove it one day, will that be an issue? I dont want my car to have glue on the windshield.

black vinyl covering the chrome trim seems like a good mod. where is a good place to buy the vinyl?

You could take off the wing no problem. A rag and some soap does the trick removing any residue. May need to borrow some elbow grease though.

Some have reported getting some sort of cement with the wing, but mine came from Shadow with just the 3M backing strip. It's been rock solid for a year now, and if it had to come off, it should be easy to clean the glass with soap of some sort.

For the OP, a $5 can of plast-dip on the grill looks nice, followed by the roof wing (although, to be honest, black on a black roof sort of becomes invisible) - about $80 shipped from Taiwan. Next would be the front lip and suspension drop for a few hundred each, depending on your labor costs.
I stopped myself from those two because the car is leased, but if I decide to keep it at the end...

@Aldente a black roof wing on a black car does seem indivisible but what do you think about the black roof wing on a white maxima with panoramic roof ?

Most people with the panoramic roof get the black spoiler regardless of the color of the car. It would look more off to have the color running across the back window and pano roof breaking up the flow of the black. That is my opinion anyways, lol

Oop's, good catch and it wasn't intentional. I spaced on the "no body-kit" part.
