How to secure amp under seat?

I am in the process of installing a amp under the drivers seat of my 3G Maxima. How do I go about mounting the amp to the floor? The amp has mounting holes, so can I just get some sheet metal screws and go to town?

yeh just be sure your not drilling and screwing down into any electric wires fuel lines etc. I don't think you will just check first.

Put the amp where you want it, poke a hole into the carpet through the amp hole and another just to the outside of the hole and then run some plastic wire ties through the holes and cinch them up.

There's nothing wrong with mounting it to the floorboard like max'n out suggested...my way is just easier and less permanent if you change amps or sell the car.

also make 'em easier to rip out if your car gets broken into. I have mine in the trunk, much harder to access.

Justin made a good point. However, I'm not sure about your car, but I have to take my seats completely out to put my amps in or take them out. I say that if a theif makes the effort to break into your car then they're going to get what they came in for. If they can't get it, they'll destroy it and your car in the process. Of course, this is highly debatable and up to the person intalling the system.

Hi Tony, well the guy(s) that broke into my car last week tore up my back seat pretty good trying to get into my trunk, but alas, my amps and CD changers are safe. They were able to remove my sub from it's enclosure and took my cap and CD changer controller off the back of the seat... all thru the little pass-thru. The next guy that tries my car may break the trunk open, but it saved most of my stuff this time.

BTW, State Farm told me that if my other stuff was stolen, they wouldn't have covered it... the standard policy for them is $1500 worth of stereo equipment, anything more and you need a special rider to your insurance policy...

Thats pretty good really my insurence only covers up to a G in stereo stuff. I had to get a whole nother policy to cover the stereo/performance stuff.

mounting under the seats is really the best way to go cause people can see your stuff when u open the trunk......but if its hiding under the seat its not as visible

That's why I rarely use my trunk, and try not to open it at my apartment complex. So that's a very good point, as long as the bad guys are only targeting cars that they know will have good stuff in the trunk. But if you park your car in a public place then it's going to be targeted, no matter where you put your stuff.

Also, I had my amps mounted behind the seats in my RX7 a couple years ago, and they really made the seats warm. That kinda sucked though cuz I live in Austin and it rarely gets below 50 degrees here. Amps under the seats would make good a$$-warmers for all the northerners though.
