GXE keyless entry on SE, can it be done?

Yesterday I was looking through a couple boxes of random parts that came with a couple of third gens I bought to flip a while back, and found a set of door handles from a GXE with the keypads on them... I wonder, can I make these work on my 92 SE?

There were other little wiring harnesses and computer box looking things with the set that for all I know could be unrelated but might be part of the set. If anyone has any knowledge about this I can take pics of everything that is there to see if I have what it takes. Of course I will need to figure out how to reset the codes...

I have a keypad on my 2004 f150 and I love it, I use it more than the key fob, so it would be awesome to have this on my max. I have my doubts that anyone has tried this, and I know this thread may die quick, so I may just have to attempt it on my own but I thought it was worth asking.

i think one or two people did it, theres a old thread on it. but theres probably alot of wiring involved since the keypad on GXE can put the front window down, open the trunk, etc

yes it can be done
yes you will lose contact with all your friends and family, forget to shower, forget to shave, and maybe even forget to eat during the time you are doing it.

I'd rather do a 5spd swap, grille/taillight swap, rear swaybar swap, spring/strut/rear disc swap, repaint the trim/mirrors black, and add foglights to a GXE, than do a keypad addition to an SE.

BUT!!! Since you have a 92SE you have a VE and one cannot simply get a GXE with a VE to swap all the SE goodies onto... since VE engine only came in 92-94 SE cars... so your only choice to have a VE with keypads, is to hunker down and swap the keypad system in.

May the force be with you. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Maxima/1994/el.pdf

There's not much purpose in doing it, just install a modern alarm system, it's a much more flexible and easy way of doing everything the keypad does and a lot more.

But if you want to do it just for fun, that's another story.

Y'all are probably right. I was thinking it would be cool if everything could be done right there in the door, but I'm not interested in running wires everywhere.

as far as 3G conversions go (ACC, 5spd) this is definately more straight forward. I posted a thread with all the wiring information just so i wouldnt lose it. all the components (keypads, beepers, brainbox) are wired to themselves and theres only a handful of other connections you need to make.

i havent done the conversion but i spent a couple of DAYs lol comparing FSM pages n such and its like i said above
