I'm running KYB AGX's They are SWEET! They have a very nice ride. Firm, yet smooth and quiet.

And, Albertt, you at least owe it to yourself to go with the AGXs....just in case your spring needs should change.....

Either that, or go with Konis....and please stay away from the Toks....

I have to disagree with you here Bill. I've got a few "tricks" that you will not find in search. So "it"has been done, but you will not find "it" in search!

Sometimes you guys are a little to hard on the search thing.

Uh, OK, so do I, but the likelihood of getting a plethora of thoughtful experiences with KYB GR-2s on stock springs for 4th gens when a search yields no one having/trying this setup probably will not help Albertt out. My comment is based upon a situation, and I didn't feel like typing paragraphs about why I made the generalization.

Honestly >>>

After doing the search I find myself a bit overwhelmed. Is there some kind of database which lists all the types of springs, cross referenced with ride heights and ride compliancy (as subjective as this is)? Also a cross reference with strut types would be nice too. If I do end of lowering (with aftermarket springs) the car, I want to do it as minimally as possible.

Albertt,

No such database exists..........yet.....

Here's what you need IMHO:

H&R Springs

KYB AGX shocks

This will be the best compromise with what you're seeking. Personally, I'm confused as to why you don't want to eliminate the unsightly wheel gap on your Max, but don't see any reason why you can't/shouldn't use the AGXs on the stock springs.
