Nissan not making the same socket for clearance lights.

so i had to order some parts to make all my bumper lights work. i had lost my clearance lights while driving , and needed to replace the lens, the socket that hold the 194 bulb, and the grommet that hold the lens in place so this wouldnt happen again.

the replacement socket (that holds the bulb) for the clearance light is part number (26250) - translates to (26597) on the actual part bag you receive. problem is they changed the socket now - so the factory wiring harness will no longer plug into the new sockets they make. im being told that you now have buy part number (24342PE) - connector assy-harness repair - to make it work. so youll have to cut out the factory harness plug, and splice in this NEW plug, so it will work with their NEW socket..

new socket (26250) / (26597) - $10.79
repair harness (24342PE) - $8.33

2 of each come to $38.24 - which is more than new clear bumper lights cost. not happy i am being told this now, after i already bought the sockets. had i known i woulda bought used from someone in here.. but maybe this can help someone else..

(26110J) is the number the replacement grommet if anyone needs it. they are $1.35 each

Those "part numbers" are only prefixes.

And I would have just went to a junkyard...

yea it seems like that, but when you factor in the time and the money, the $20 i originally spent was worth just ordering the new sockets since i was getting the grommets anyway.. just a little annoyed courtesy nissan put me in the position now that i basically have no choice but the buy the additional harness. like i said - HAD i know b4 hand, i would have bought on the org. but i didnt want to wait for responses and deal with all that when a 20 dollar bill solved my problem at 2am

dont know - its copied from my receipt, the bag it came in, or what courtesy nissan emailed me.. regardless, those numbers direct you to the parts i described. anyway , for me - $20 was worth not having to goto a junkyard

besides - i only created the thread to pass on the info and maybe help the next guy. took the rep from parts place a few days to realize i wasnt a moron and that their new socket doesnt fit the factory harness.

well this is the new harness end you would need to splice on the car's wiring. its similar, but not the same size. the new light socket even comes with a black plastic insert that is removable, so two different size plugs can be used.
