I Need a "Personal Light". Anyone?

I need an interior light bulb for my 96 SE. It's the courtesy light located next to the power sunroof switch. I wasn't sure if it was called a "map light" or something else, but the Maxima owners manual refers to it as a Personal Light (see picture)

The only writing on the OEM bulb is "Life 12V 10W"

I went to the auto parts store and could not cross reference it. I could find the same mount size, but it was only a 2W. Heck, even the owners manual has a blank space for the bulb type even as it had numbers for most other bulbs.

Can anyone offer a part number? I hope to avoid going to the dealer as I can only imagine what that would cost. I prefer to stick with incandescent, but I will use LED if there is a replacement that will plug right in.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah that's the map light. Any auto parts store will have them, they're a ba9 socket bulb. Like 3 bucks a pair

If you go LED, you should know the polarity is reversed so you need an LED that has a 2 part connector so you can reverse the wires at the bulb end, fyi

The size listed for 96 map lights is 1895. They are a twist-in base (much like turn signal bulbs). Here's what they have on eBay for them (though they are all LEDs): http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...5+led&_sacat=0

If you don't like LEDs, you could use a "warm white" color LED which emulates the color of an incandecent bulb.

This is SORT of correct. As mentioned below, the MAP light lists as 1895 but is is only like a 3.5 or 4W bulb at your local auto parts store. They are nowhere NEAR bright enough (for my liking anyway) I tried em, they suck. I went with a ghetto rigged LED. The 10W we have is DEALER item ONLY and at my last check, was around $5 each.

Sorry to you Mike .
