Quick OBD2 question

I recently put a CAI in my 98 max. Ever since I put it in the car idles rough, the car smells like its running really rich, and im burning about 2 quarts of oil every 3000 miles.

Today I scanned the car for codes and I got this:

P0325
Knock Sensor 1 Circut Bank 1 or Single Circut
P0110
Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circut
P0306
Cylinder 6 missfire
P0171
System to Lean Bank 1
P0174
System to Lean Bank 2

I remember a while back reading that I would need to upgrade to a 5th gen MAF sensor with a CAI.

Is there any truth to that?
Will upgrading the MAF fix this?
Any other suggestions?

Thanks everyone

What did you do with the Intake Air Temperature Sensor? Did you install it in the CAI or did you throw it away with the old air filter box?

Fix the P0110 and probably everything else will go away. And don't waste you time worrying about the P0325, it pops up anytime you have any other code.

it is actually a short ram. I took an old MAF housing, flipped it around and bolted my cone filter to it, so trhe air temp sensor is most likely just floating around

You do not need 5th gen MAF.

If the Air Temperature Sensor is just floating around the engine bay, you should not have a code. I have done that before.

Something must be very wrong with your car in order to burn so much oil. I have had multiple 4th gens and one of them had 300k on the clock. Not a single drop of oil burned between oil changes. It is common issue for 02-03 VQ35, but not for 95-99 VQ30.

Flipped the filter around? have any pics? I sounds like you didn't reconnect something and are running super lean.

And no you definitely do not need a 5th gen MAF.

MAF must be mounted correctly and not "flipped" around. The sensor is directional. Look for the arrow on the side of the MAF that depicts the direction of airflow.

And after you flip the MAF back the way it should be, ziptie the IAT somewhere close to the filter. Dangling in the engine bay is no good. I've had that happen a few times before.
