Clicking noise behind dash

Something makes a clicking noise which sounds like a relay whenever I turn right, especially when it's bumping and turning right. It clicks on every bump. It never clicks when making left turns. I've taken the center cluster out and checked for anything loose...nothing. Are there any relays back there?

Not when left, only when right? Have you worked on the suspension at all? Does it do it if the car is STOPPED and you're only turning the wheel?

Relays are under and behind the cluster. If it does it only when the car is moving, I'm thinking CV going bad.

I have a clicking noisewhen I turn my wheel that sounds like its behind the dash but it's really coming from my front right strut mount bearing...

Actually, now that I think about it, the noise only happens when turning right AND there's bumps.

have you done any work to your suspension recently? And how loud / rapid is the clicking? Is it dependent on speed (the faster you turn, the faster the clicking is)?

I have, I removed the transmission, but this noise doesn't sound like anything suspension like. It's a really small, light clicking...it really sounds like a relay clicking on and off. The speed is dependent on the bump intervals. Totally bump related. The link below has a guy with the same problem, but never followed up.

This might be in an entirely wrong direction but have you taken apart your door panel at all lately?

I had a rogue noise that sounded like clicking until I tracked it down to a loose connection on my door lock. It would happen on bumps because the connection was being disrupted. It did not sound like CV axles I know that sound and feel but it did kinda sound like it was coming from the dash compartment.

I haven't taken off any door panels. Even with the center stuff out of the way and I put my head as close as possible while going right and over bumps I can't pinpoint the noise...it's so close yet so far. I've tightened as many bolts as possible too. Kinda sounds like a connector tapping against a metal bar...really light tapping/clicking noise.

That's funny that you should mention that. I just turned it on the signal while reproducing the noise and while it's very similar, it's a little different and they both were making noise at the same time.

can you replicate the sound by pushing down on the front corners suspension?

just tried..no good. I think it has to do with the swaying g-force and something swings over and taps some metal.

video

Here's an example of what it sounds like...sorry, not the best video though. The clicking noise is what I'm talking about...it makes that noise when turning right.

This guy also had the same problem, but of course it was never followed up or resolved.

hmm, weird. Sounds sorta like my strut mount bearing but mine's a more uniform sound. Yours sounds like some piece of plastic something is impacting and rattling...

Just to see if it's NOT coming from behind the dash, have you checked the engine bay?

Well...I give up...My conclusion is I think it's coming from the blend air box. There was a pin that moved a door in the box at the bottom that made a very close if not identical noise. I grease it up and it no longer made the noise, although the main noise was still there.

It was actually the same area, like right underneath the shifter. But what gets me is how it made that double clicking noise. Although it did make sense on how it made noise on the turns since the hanger swayed enough to tap the bolt...but ya, definitely peace now...I don't feel like I'm driving a bucket anymore.

did you find the source of the clicking? Ive got the same issuse, and its driving me crazy, it sounds like the turn signals are always on, it clicks whether i turn or not, even when just starting the car it clicks fast, i wiggle the turn signal switch sometimes it goes away and sometimes not, but its def inside the car , i just tore down the steering wheel trim to see what was going on, could it be the switch? everything else works, lights ect.
