03' maxima AC wont stay on PLEASE HELP
I have an 03 maxima the AC went out a few months ago and i just decided now to recharge it with the do it yourself, it took one large can and the AC worked driving all the way back to the store i bought another small can, and on the way home it stopped working, I opened the hood got under and the clutch is going in and out on the pump you can hear it kick in and then jump off within 5-10 seconds. It will not take anymore free-on, and I was told it may need to be vacumed or it could be a screen that is clogged from a friend that does AC repair but he is 1300 miles away and has not seen the car, is there any other reason that the AC would be going on and off, when i tried to let it run its own self auto test it came up with #25 on first test and also 41 on the 3rd or 4th test what ever one starts with 4, it should be noted my pump did not work after i had my alternator changed, until i made sure the wire was all the way in from the alternator, but i do not believe its a connection bc it does not stay on when i hold the wire and it worked for about 15-20 minutes before it started going on and off, can someone please help before i go to a shop and have someone try taking me for a ride
This means the pressure is either too high or too low. I know when I recharged mine i filled it too high and it did the exact same thing. I took a screwdriver and pushed the pin valve on the high pressure side for a tenth of a second or so, tried to turn it on, then repeated until it turned on and stayed on. CAUTION this will spray freon out. Wear safety glasses and keep your mouth closed. I know some people may scoff at this, but it worked and r134a doesn't deplete the ozone so all you environmentalist whiners don't have to cry.
Of course ymmv do this at your own risk etc etc.
P.S my ac is ICE cold now.

Thanks for the advice, I will try this, maybe it stopped after i started putting the second can in I cant remember, but if anyone else has run into the same problem please let me know what else it could be or if those numbers that came up on the auto test that the computer runs 25 and 41 mean anything i want to exhaust all options before having to pay someone, also i saw a forem about the power steering hose, and that it is a PITA to change, what am i looking at to pay someone, is it worth my time getting in there
