What are the popular cars that I can beat...

Or should I ask what are the popular cars should I avoid? I have a 2001 SE 5sp - no mods. I had an acura cl screwing around with me this week on the mass pike, but the traffic made any kind of contest stupid. I'll admit that I'm not as quick with a standard as I'd like to be, but I'm not bad either. So what about the CL, and what about the new 6 cylinder vw's. My brother in law drives a jetta auto that screams. I'd like to have bragging rights at Sunday dinner.

Well there are some GTP drivers that argue this point, but I'd say you're just about solid except for any Firebird Formula's you might come up against.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.....but I'll try to respond. I want to know where my car ranks out there on the road, not so I can go out and find someone to race just to show my car is faster ... although there's no feeling in the world like the hammering of my heart after cruising off a exit ramp after a nice clean safe kill.. there's something to be said for just simply knowing. How's that...

Oh yeah, the TL-S is slow...a 5-speed can smoke a TL-S...in fact an auto Max can pull on one. Please, a TL-S...what a joke. They can't handle in the twisties, no torque, hell if it weren't for NAV nobody would buy one.

Re: What are the popular cars that I can beat...

cars u CAN beat under $30,000:
*almost entire line up of Honda/Acura cars, u can beat a CL-S rather easily, but must shift like hell when racing against the CL-S and TL-S(since ur stock).
*entire line-up of Hyundai (the new V6 Tiburon may be the marque)
*Nissan Sentra, 2.5 Altima and 3.5 V6 Altima w/ autotragic tranny
*Subaru Impreza 2.5RS
*VW Jetta/Golf 1.8i, VR6(if u really work hard), Passat 1.8
*Ford Focus, Mustang V6, Cougar, Probe GT
*Chevolet Caramo V6, Cavalier(the entire line-up), Malibu
*Toyota Celica GT, GT-S(maybe), MR2 Spyder, Corolla(duh)
*Mitsubishi Eclipse(the entire line-up), the 'new' Lancer

cars u CANNOT beat under $30,000:
*Chevolet Camaro Z28, SS
*Ford Mustang GT
*Subaru Impreza WRX

I would add to the list some cars over $30K.

Acura 3.5 RL

BMW 318, 325, 328 (maybe 330)
BMW 525, 530
BMW 740 (maybe)

Lexus IS300
Lexus ES300
Lexus GS300

Mazda Millenia (any trim)

Saab..hmmmm....non-turbo only?

You might not bean an IS300

As far as which cars you'll beat--It also depends on your driving skills. I have a 5-Speed IS300 and I haven't lost to a Maxima yet. It depends on how well you drive. Most of these silly fools aren't speaking from experience, they're just telling you what they THINK you can beat.

Yeah...bored, bored, bored.

Every time I see you post I quickly see your handle and think it is ACLULurker and think the Civil Liberties Union is going to file a grievance against us or something.
