Question regarding oil

I was using Mobil EP 5W30 and moved to PP5W30 recently (about 2500 miles).
The engine now runs smoother, increased mileage and all the good stuff.
But I noticed it is burning more oil. Using Mobil, I was adding half a quart around 2500 mile mark, but It is burning almost double that with PP.
Next one is Pennzoil Ultra5W30.
Any suggestions?!!!

There's really no logical explanation for that because the VQ's are known for consumption oil. You are doing the right thing by checking and maintaining your oil level, other than that there's nothing much you can do to stop it. I refuse to believe that changing from 5W to 10W will stop it, it may reduce the amount of oil being consumed between oil changes but that's it. Continue to check and maintain your oil level and don't stress about it too much.

Anyone use M1 0W-40? They sell 5QT jugs at walmart for $24. There's an oil analysis thread on bobistheoilguy with respect to the vq35. I use it with a pureone filter.

It flows better when cold so it cuts down on cold start wear.

We've been using Valvoline MaxLife 5w30 (either blend or full synth) for years, and I really can't say it burns much, if any, oil. Pure One filters, too.
