biggest diameter tire on stock max

i got this 4th gen cheap, se, 5 speed, 227k miles. it runs great but it has alot of rust . i put some 300zx tt wheels on it but otherwise stock. i hate having a stock car but puting any money to make it better looking "street" car doesnt make sense but i have always want to do a urban assult/madmax type of car and i can hide the rust that way. i know some might like it most will think its stupid , it will never do any off roading its just for looks.

i have most of it planed out but i am trying to figure out what the biggest tire i can fit on the car at stock ride height with stock wheels?

my max,

Hey.

I have to say i think that car, with those rims looks great. Color combo is nice.

For your idea: I can specify on max wheel size, but if you do want to go down the road to a "Mad Max" our cars have the same bolt pattern as the Police Interceptors. Those cars have 17" steelies on them that should be perfect. On that size rim 235/45/17 is the stock comparable, I have gone as high as 235/50/17 on my rear and it looked fine.

Turning radius and rubbing would be the issue on the front and with 225/50/17 i have noticed a couple scuffs on the inner wheel well but nothing i am alarmed about.

Good luck.

You should calculate width into the equation too. I recently scored some 17s off an 05 g35 sedan for a steal and the new tires I had slapped on (Hankook Ventus HRII H405, 225/50R17) have about a 3/4" bigger diameter than stock, not sure how much the difference is width from stock but the only rubbing I get is on the plastic pulley cover on the passenger side. And even that only happens when I have the wheel all the way left, under regular driving no problems at all. Also remember that bigger tires will make your speedo read slower than you're actually going, mine's off by about 0.94 mph.

I have my "summer touring" setup on mine. 1998se 16" 5 spokes with 225/65/16's 27.5" tall. No rub and I have a 3" drop on the front. The limiting factors are section width (235mm) with a +40 stock offset 6.5" wheel, and the other limitation is the spring perch on a stock strut. I currently have about a 3/8 " space between the top of the tire and the underside of the perch. If you had coilovers that remove that perch limitation and your new limit would be the distance of the fender opening (front to rear)

How is your car that clean with all that ice on the roads? Here in Texas we had ice for about 4 days and then slush on the roads for another 3 or 4 and mine looks like hell from all that crap.

ahhh... I've seen those, and had a similar idea but personally didn't feel they were cost effective with having to prep and paint them. You did a great job with it though!

when i bought it i was going to lower it , throw on some murano wheels on it and a few bolt-ons to make it fun and just drive it until the wheels fall off but the car has to much rust to fix and this was a quick way to cover it up. in a year or two it probably wont be road worthy anymore anyway.
