2011 - SV Door lock "chime" & A/C resets to 75
Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me with some information. I do have an appt next week to go back to the dealer for repair.
Background:
On 9/11/13, I brought my 2011 SV in for regularly scheduled oil change. Nothing is wrong with the car. During the work, they said my battery terminals had some corrosion, so I said sure, do the battery service. Battery came back OK, terminals clean, oil change done, and I'm on my way. I don't get one block before I notice my one-touch up for all 4 windows don't work...the A/C resets itself to 75 degrees upon every turn off/turn on of the car...the little chime/beep doesn't beep when you use the button on the driver's door handle to unlock or lock the car. That's all I can see so far as being "broken".
I went back into the dealer, explained the above and how it was all working properly before I brought it in. They explained that they hooked the car up to a "battery saver" to retain the settings; driver's seat memory, radio presets, and so forth. Those settings appeared to save.
The "fix" for the one-touch windows was to hold each window's button up for like 5 seconds, and that re-enabled the one-touch. They took the car back in for an hour, but they couldn't figure out the A/C 75F issue or the lack of chiming for the door locks.
I did find this thread, but I pushed that thing in but it appears to already be in as far as it can go and my A/C still resets to 75 degrees every time I turn on the car.

Any ideas? They are giving me a loaner. It's just frustrating because all of this was working fine, and now they screwed something up. Any info I could provide them to get my car back quicker I'd appreciate.
Thanks!

If you press the button on the handle to exit or enter there's a little beep beep sound, not the horn. This what the op is talking about
I don't think thats completely accurate. If you have the sound enabled then hitting the lock button once on the remote will honk the horn. Unless thats just me...
On my '09 with premium and technology packages, there is no sound (except a soft mechanical 'click') when I lock or unlock my doors, whether pushing the inside lock levers or the outside button on the front doors or using the remote.
The day I bought the car, I changed the setting to not have the horn give its little chirp when I locked the car with my remote, and I expect there is a way to turn the beeping you describe on and off, as no 7th gen Maxima in which I have ridden did any such beeping when the doors were locked or unlocked. Almost every sound this car makes can be turned on or off.
I know that every time I take my car in for service, my dealer changes the setting to have the horn beep and the lights flash when the lock or unlock button on the remote is pushed. The valet does this so when the porter goes to the parking lot to take the car into the service bay, he can find the car quickly.

Time to get these old ears checked.
i tend to mess around with my car and try to find all type of nifty things that the remote/car can do that i didn't know of and with my 09 max i've learned if u hold the lock and unlock button on the key fob for a 5-8 secs the light flash and you can disable the horn when locking the car, and repeating the same process reactivates the horn, btw i have the S model with sunroof and i also have the button on my door handles and it chimes when i press the lock button.
This made me chuckle because I run a hearing aid shop. I do hearing tests everyday. And yes, you most likely have some moderate high frequency hearing loss if you've never heard that sound before. Lol

Yes. I think car salespersons should bring this feature to the atttention of every car purchaser at the time of purchase. Many would use it.
Around where I live, in many places such as parking lots of retirement homes, nursing homes, apartment complexes, hospitals, funeral homes, cemeteries, churches, and in residential neighborhoods, it is considered to be very poor manners to have our car horn beep when locking or unlocking our car.
I think the reasoning is that things are very quiet and peaceful around here, and a sudden beep of a horn is both startling and unnecessary unless there is an actual danger warranting use of the horn.
Where I live, it is considered that a simple flash of the lights is more than sufficient to confirm the locking/unlocking action. I'm sure that will be different in some other areas.

I do prefer the flash of the lights especially since my neighbors have 4 mammoth Labradors who will start a barking match at the slightest sound.Salespersons should definitely talk about that feature and the automatic windows down when pressing and holding the unlock button on the fob--this is my second Maxima and neither salesperson showed me this.
This is good to know but I would think the salesperson is too much involved with showing off features that separate that style and trim rather than standard features available across all trims. Moreover, a quick read through the owners manual describes many of these features.
