DS Front CV Axle Replacement

Noticed the CV boot was torn when replacing the driver side wheel bearing on my 01 Max. I want to replace the axle. Do I just pry it from the tranny?

If all goes well, yes. If your car is a manual then typically you can pry it out, but be careful you don't damage the axle seal...or better yet get a new axle seal or two(spare) and replace it as they have a way of getting buggered up on removal/installation of the axle if you're not careful. If your tranny is an auto I recall it's sometimes hard to get the DS side axle out and may ultimately require you remove the passenger side axle so that you can drive out the DS axle from the opposite side (through the PS axle hole). When you reinstall the axle suggest you grease the seal so the axle slides in more easily and you diminish the risk of damaging the seal. A little nick in the seal will p*&s tranny fluid.
