Does nissan read our forum??
I really think that Nissan should read the comments on this forum to gain feedback as to what it is Maxima customers really want in the new Gen Max for 2015.
Here is a great example of how people feel about the Maxima:

What are your thoughts on all of this, including the comments that people left on the link that is included?
Thanks

When I had my 2003 Maxima I went to my local dealer to buy the 2004 valve cover assembly to fix the oil leak. The parts guy asked me how I knew about the fix and when I said from maxima.org he said this site basically was a bunch of wannabee mechanics passing out bad advice.
I ended up getting my part from DaveB the parts guy in TX, who was a regular on this site. Over the years I've found 2 other dealerships (one in Huntsville AL the other in Nashville, TN) that even acknowledged that this site was worthwhile.
FWIW I'm pretty sure that Nissan knows of this site but they just don't care what a small percentage of the people think of their product.

The Maxima will not have AWD, as that adds around $2,000 to an already 'price-stretched' vehicle, and would also lower the MPG as well as make tire replacment more expensive. With AWD, it is sometimes necessary to replace all four tires when only one is bad, else put excessive wear of the drive train gearing/differential. Also, with a limited production vehicle, which the Maxima now is, major power train options are not economically practical.
The Maxima will not have a manual. Those who never stop asking seem to have forgotten that Nissan gave us manual Maximas, but that between 1998 and 2006, the manual Maxima market simply vanished, leaving Maximas on the lot that dealers could not give away.
The poster asking for a lower price on the Maxima has not taken the time to list all options on the Maxima, and compare those with other such vehicles. The Maxima is a good buy for the price when all factors are considered.
The posters turned off by the Maxima styling are spitting in the wind. I have had more people come up to me and tell me how much they love my Maxima's looks than with any car I have ever owned. And I have been driving since the 1940s.
What each individual wants on the Maxima is different than other folks, so I expect differences of opinion. But the responses to the referenced article seem to be from folks who have no idea of the Maxima laid out very publically by Ghosn himself back in 2002.
Ghosn said the Maxima was being taken upscale to near-luxury, would have a limited production run, the manual Altima would replaced the affordable manual tranny 3.5 liter slot in Nissan's lineup, and the new Maxima would be Nissan's flagship..
The only change to that mantra was when Ghosn announced in 2007 that the Maxima would be taken back slightly to a more sporty side. And the 7th gen was wider, lower, had a smaller and sportier steering wheel, a much tighter turning radius, lower, wider wheels/tires, etc.
A limited volume vehicle such as the Maxima will never be able to satisfy everyone. It is definitely not aimed at those Maxima drivers from the second millemium. Nissan has very carefully aimed this vehicle at a specific target audience, and it hits that target rather well.

OMG, Ghozt you hit the nail on the head. When I had my 2010 Murano I took it in to get my doors programmed to unlock when I put the car in park versus when the ignition was turned off, (very annoying for the wife). For the Murano the dealer has to make that change, I took in the instructions detailing exactly how to do it and the guy was amazed that a forum could be so up to date. Before I left he wrote down the website information.
Now that would be nice. I so tire of going to RedBox to drop off a movie and have to hit the unlock button or turn the ignition off for the doors to unlock or when a friend is riding with me and I drop them off and they always try to open the door but it stays locked until I unlock it. Plus, I love the sound that it makes when it unlocks.
