Which CAI? Takeda or R2C?

Hi there, I know there is no real CAI for the 7th Gen. I am not after crazy performance gain, but for a new look and different sound.

First question, how better is the CAI than the stock in box filter?

Second question, which one you will choose, Takeda for $204.00 or R2C for $159?

Takeda TR-3005P

R2C

I'd personally go with Stillen it uses the same air intake inlet as the stock. Great sound and easy to install.

i tried both, no difference in sound or intake air temps between the two. same goes for the rest of the short ram intakes; just get one that you like the look of

Hi Ghozt,

I read somewhere in the forum and you were upset with the R2C especially regarding the air temp.

Do you still recommend to use CAI in our cars? How better it's than the stock filter?

I brought this up recently, and the info I gathered is to pretty much stay stock. If your just looking for the sound any Sri will do, there's not much hp to gain. I'd say get a kn drop in and forget about it. Only other option for true cai is what ghozt did, relocate battery with a custom piping

not so much upset as just surprised how little the heat shield did. some guys have lined the shield with heat-reflective tape and one guy with his OBD-II tool showed a pretty decent decrease in intake air temps. so if you wanna maximize your short ram, use that heat-reflective tape on the outside of the shield.

for the most part you're adding an intake for noise; the stock air box does a pretty good job for what it is. maybe one day ill get around to dynoing my custom CAI vs my stock air box and see what it actually does; for now all i know is it has decreased air temps over stock both cruising and idling and so far is the loudest intake ive heard. its kind of a pain to go through cause of the battery relo. wish you could fit a true cai without doing all that..

Just ordered a kn drop in last night, should be here tomorrow. Ill report back how I feel about it. I will say I inspected my oem filter and that thing is filled with gunk, gave it whack and threw it back in for the time being. I bought this car preowned about 6 months ago. You'd think they would've replaced te filter at least

Thank you for making it clear. I think I will drop in a K&N filter and call it a day.

Just wanted to say, received the kn yesterday...dropped it in, and I def can feel a difference with performance. I'm sure it's mostly because I had a dirty filter and everything's flowing nicely now. As far as mpg go ill have to check that long term but with a short distance hwy drive last night/today I see a +2 increase. Ill report back in a couple of weeks to a month to see how I feel about the kn then

I'm happy with my drop in K&N. To me it flows better than the oil soaked Nissan paper filter. The plus is you also retain the direct outside air induction into the filter box you loose with the aftermarket SRI's.

I noticed a gain in mpg with the k and n drop in filter. Only averaging 1mpg better over the last two months, but better is better. The factory air box is most definitely a better choice for preformance than any short ram intake. You are getting more noise with a Sri.

The AEM short ram intake has a similar pipe than stock coming from the grille. In my experience with these motors it's the best set up I've seen besides a true cold air kit. I'm sure it will gain at least 8-10fwhp.

I'll be installing mine in the next few days.
