CXJ Performance 7th Gen Maxima Y-Pipe

I'm primarily going to start this off as just an interest thread to see if there is a current market demand for a higher quality Y-pipe for our generation Maximas. I posted a question in the HFC thread which a few people read and responded to but wanted to post it in it's own thread so it got the attention it deserves.

Basically the question is simple; are you guys interested in a higher quality Y-pipe be made available to give an option to the Racingline one? I have the Racingline one like others, but as many have found out this needs to be modified to fit the AAM Exhaust (due to being 1/2" longer than stock) and over time has shown to rust about as bad as our OEM exhaust does. Now this thread isn't to bash RL's products but simply to ask if you guys would like to see another unit built out of higher quality materials that won't rust as easily and is also a perfect OEM fitment?

As far as higher quality; it usually comes with a higher price. I'm fine with Redlines quality because it isn't going to rust through from what I understand just surface rust. Which my car hopefully will never be upside down so that won't matter.

What I want is simply for it to be available to order and not be more than $300.

I feel $300 is about max for what it is.

Correct - higher quality means higher price. If you want a y-pipe for sub $300 your best bet will be Racingline's. Makes no sense though to ask for the higher quality item at the lower quality price. Lower grade steel products mass produced will always cost less than higher quality hand-built stuff from smaller shops.

I understand that.

Just saying if anyone can make a Y pipe that is available it would sell.

As I have Racingline's y-pipe, and have no need for a different one. I've vote yes, only because of our aftermarket support for our cars is so minimal, it sucks!

Any chance in a larger pipe diameter... Say 2.5" to match most of the pipe diameters of the catback kits out there?

What do you guys think about aY pipe alternative? I'm going to take the car to an exhaust shop and see if they can take the two primary pipes just before the third cat and merge to 1 pipe and delete the resonator and cat.

thats basically what the aftermarket Y pipe is. a part that joins the two pipes (in a Y) and deletes the CAT. custom will always be cheaper than production bolt-on pieces; one requires a blowtorch and a few hours the other requires design work and a jig.

Y-pipe Option

I would love for Cory to make the Mod. I have been supportive since coming on this site, I standbye his work and will be very interested in purchasing the product if made. Keep up the Great Work Cory.

If I didn't already have the RL y-pipe I might say yes to a newer and better pipe.
I don't have any real rust issue concerns with the RL pipe where I live and there is no reason it'll go south before the Nissan exhaust would.
The potential design of this "new y-pipe" and how it would fit with the stock Nissan exhaust length or the different AAM design length should be also be understood.
With that said I do like Corey's performance ambitions with this car!

Voted yes.. I'm actually in the market to buy the ypipe. But I'm sure Cory's would be a while away?
