Hey guys, an engine code p1320 popped up on my dash a couple days ago I haven't had this car long so I am not overly familiar with the engine. I figure I should replace the spark plugs, wires, and coils to get rid of the problem and just give it a bit of a tune up. my question is though what would be involved in doing this? mainly do I need to remove the plenum? any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

 

Your car doesnt come with spark plug wires.

you have coil packs on individual plugs. The front bank of the engine coil pack are identical of the three, and the rear bank are different than the front. So I know you are not having any misfiring codes. But as the code P1320, that either you are not getting power to the coil or possibly the crank position sensor. I would check the harness to the coil make sure they are not loose or disconnected. as far as the crank pos sensor it should be located in the front near by the crankshaft pulley and see if any wire or harness got loose.

 

To get to the rear coils can I just take them out of do Ihave to remove the manifold? I plan on testing the coils just to be safe

 

On our engines you can get to the coils/plugs without removing much of anything.

Just get throttle cable out of the way and thats about it, might be another bracket or two around cyl #1 and #3 but you can also just unscrew and move em out of the way. Having a good extension helps, otherwise its a PITA to get the screws out on the rear coils. The fronts are a piece of cake.
