well now that i ran consistent 12 second passes, im wondering now how much lower into the 12's will i get? I've got a few parts to put on and next time i go i will try to work on the aerodynamics of the car.
-Cosmo Racing Underdrive Pulley
-Port and polished LIM + SSIM UIM + elbow cutout
-REAL SLICKS on 15" rims
-strip a few more things out the car, rear bumper support, dashboard, etc. considering taking out the sunroof assembly and somehow putting in a piece of plexiglass.(still looking into it)
-Retune Greddy e-mange BLUE to SUPER agressive tune
-**OR** considering buying a Greddy e-manage ULTIMATE from a buddy for 300$ with a universal harness and all the books and wiring diagrams.ANY THOUGHTS?
-considering buying the NWP 3.5" TB (full kit)(360+shipping) duno if its worth it tho.
-finally getting a new NWP Upper-lowermanifold spacer, as im currently running no spacer just hi-temp silicone.

 

I would just do the pulley, slicks and weight reduction for now. I wouldn't bother with a ssim till you get a EU and extend the rev limiter.

You'll be shocked at the gains from 24.5inch slicks alone will net you, also strap down the front end if u don't have coilovers

You could could also take a sheet of aluminum, cut it to fit, and block off the sunroof. I would just focus on getting the 24.5 slicks on there and taking more weight out of it.

Have you thought about cutting out the metal on the doors and putting lexan windows on? That would save a ton of weight.

 

tbh wanted to keep the power windows they're a nice feature to have, atleast for the front ones

im taking the sunroof assembly out this spring, aswell as cutting out the door panels and the rear deck lid. A buddy of mine has a pair of 22x8x15" slicks he said he would let me use for a few passes. Im really tempted to buy those 27x8x15's hes just askin for 80$ for em, wanted to buy em and try em out to see how much traction they'll have. I realistically want minimal spin

just picked up a pair of Mickey Thompson ET DRAG SLICKS 24.5/8-15, CANT wait to try these puppies out! FINALLY gonna have <2.000 60ft.

another buddy of mine is selling a pair of 22-8-15's dont know if i should try those out too, but anyhow, i really hope to get under 1.8 60FT, < 12.499...soon to come hopefully!

I need to weigh the slicks and see what the rim and tire combo will weigh, 1 rim alone is 13.8 lbs hype

 

Those 22's are 14 lbs. apiece. The 24.5's are a little bit heavier.

 

I think you'll find that the 24.5's will work better with your gearing.

 

yeah i actually compared them side by side , i think 22 would be a bit small. if i dont manage to hook up for some reason on these im gonna consider like 26-27, but i HIGHLY doubt im gonna have a traction issue now, these slicks are unbelievably slicky, and soft.

 

Are you on the stock axles? How are you launching? Would like to know just so I have an idea when I take my maxi to the track

 

yeah stock axles, they manage to take a beating, i found a good launch on either street tires or drag radials is about 2-2250 rpm, not sure about slicks, will have to find out this summer

 

Yeah, the stock axles are pretty beefy. They took my 6500 "slip dump" launches with no problems.

 

Wow. I'd love to know how they hold up to the slicks though. I knew they were strong but this is good info. Thinking back now I haven't heard of anyone snapping one of these maxima axles. I know Ramnas on here is making 411 hp and I never heard him mention changing axles

 

I was on a Mickey Thompson ET street which is practically like a slick.

 

So I should be fine taking my car to the track with some Drag Radials on it with a 3000 rpm launch and not worrying about my axles. Hoping for a low 14 full weight

 

what mods? cause i ran 14.1 @ 98 ish when i had it at full weight. i had NWP BOP gutted pre cats, test pipe, 2.5" catback NWP 5 piece spacer

 

I have OBX v2 headers, 2.5 inch Megan OE -RS Catback, injen intake, NWP Block off plate, NWP 5 piece spacers, Nwp torque link, 350z clutch. Planing on doing 4 inch integrated MAF intake next week with a VAFC tune, and maybe jwt flywheel before i take it in the track

 

honestly the track comes down to driver...it came shave up to a full second on a 1/4 mile (usually more realistically between .001-.500...which can either make it a low 14 sec car or high 13 sec car. Best recommendation would be to practice your quick shifts, pump the back tires up to about 45psi, front 25-30psi, launch around 2k-2200slightly bouncing the revs, when the tree drops..giv'r. Let rev limiter bounce once MAX twice and immediatly shift into second, make sure you go to the top of all gears without overrevving. with those mods you should honestly be able to do a high 13 pass EASY. when i did 14.1 @98 i only had: NWP 5 piece spacer(missing 1 piece), NWP B.O.P, Injen intake short-ram,Stock headers, Gutted Precats, Warpspeed y pipe, a custom 2.5" catback that was TERRIBLY done and timing advanced at the dealer to 17*. stock flywheel, exedy oem replacement clutch. FULL WEIGHT

forgot to mention to it was at a very badly prepped track and quite bumpy after you get into 3rd get lol. Ghetto french canadian tracks

 

Thanks for the tips. It'll be my first time on the track I'm only 19 so of corse I'm going to screw up a few things but I can haul *** through the gears. I'll practice the 2-2.2 k launch, I've been doing 3k launches feathering off the line. I'll see what happens with a 2k.

 

just got a change to weigh the rim & tire mounted and balanced, 27.6 lbs. hopefully thats a little lighter than my other wheels,it all adds up! cant wait to try em out!

havent started yet, i still need to wire in the EMU once the snow melts, or alteast gets a bit warmer. is there anywhere where i can find a base tune to work with thats agressive?
