Which amp and sub should I get

I recently bought a max without the bose and i want to install an amp and a sub. I just want to install one good 12' sub and a good amp. I don't know much about car audio so please help me out. Which amp and sub would provide the best sound in my car. Oh and one more thing, bass in not as important to me as clarity. My budget is about 500 bucks. your advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanx, Big Z

LOL. I was just taking a look through your posts and I was going to reccomend the Infinity Perfect 12.1. I have had mine since this summer and I am still amazed at the clarity and the low low tones that sucker puts out. I hooked my sub up to a Rockford Fosgate 360.2 and a Lightning Audio 1 farad cap. Even though the amp advertises 360 watts, the birth sheets that come with the sub are somewhere around 550 watts depending on the ohms you're running it at. I would definately reccomend the cap as well. I got my sub and amp brand new off of ebay. EBAY IS AWESOME!!! After shipping, the total came to $410ish. The cap would be around another $100. Other than that, all you need are the wires and some time. Email me if you have any ?'s.

I meant to say that the birthsheet shows the AMP pushing somewhere around 550 watts, not the sub.

yeah fosgate seems to be the best budget amp that i have seen so far.
but make sure that you use good wiring also. remeber your system is only *** strong as its weakest link. i have upgrade wires in my system a couple of times already. it really does make a difference.
the same system ended up in three of my cars. each time i upgraded the wires. from cheap (swapmeet amp kits) good (monster cable kit) to best (upgraded monster cable kits).
