RSAs havent killed me yet YAY!!!

Hello all and Happy New Year. Here in NJ we received a nasty winter storm with single digit temps. I had to get to my shop to start digging out and as surprised as I am to say it.... My Stock 19" Goodyear RSAs actually performed really well in the 10 inches of snow we got. My complex wasn't plowed and the Max went through it like a 4000 lb snow bunny. I was really surprised. I realize the car only has about 5000 miles and the tires are in great shape but I am still surprised considering all the complaints I have read. I am sure being v rated they probably wont last to next winter. What are you guys all upgrading to after the RSAs wear out?

I have over 40K on my 19 inch RSA's and the tread shows hardly any wear. This is my third winter and have had no problem in the snow, slush, or rain and in dry conditions they perform extremely well. Since I don't drive pushing the envelope of tire performance I'm very pleased with the results I get and they should last for 80K.

My original plan was to go with Continental DWS tires. I had them on my 5th gen and I was very happy with their performance. I was about to pull the trigger on them, and then decided to give the Nitto Motivo's a shot. I feel the Motivo's provide better handling than the RSA's did.

Michelin A/S 3. Wet weather grip is my biggest concern. I don't like the car sliding unless I'm the one making it slide.

I have 30k on my 18's. In the rain two things happened. I was going over a speed bump in and the tire actually slipped as I accelerated(I was going less than 10mph riding on the brakes basically). Right after that I took a right turn and accelerated into it and the front wheels slipped again! These tires still have tread on them they suck. I'm getting the thickest/softest tires I can find!

I just bought a 2010 with 33 K on it and 19" RSA

I was shocked that it handled the snow better then my 2006 with Yoko YK580's

We just got over 12" of snow in the last 2 days and it went right through it

42K on my OEM RS-As, still tread left, rotated them at 15K and 30K, never balanced, never touched alignment, wearing very evenly, ride smoothly up to low eighties. If I need replacements, I probably either go with more RS-As or Conti DWS.

This is amazing for a relatively inexpensive tire that has a tread wear rating of 260.

I'm not a fan of the RSA's. They dont track very straight. Car wanders, wet weather grip is nonexistent.

I'll replace them with Bridgstone Turanza Serenity Plus tires.

Thanks for all the input. If I do in fact survive this winter I will let you guys know what tires I put on. Lousy that a car with a 42k window price comes with such a poor representation of an all season tire.

Things are better now than in the old days. From the late 1940s until up around the early 1980s, I almost always went to a larger size tire soon after buying a car. Sometimes, I also went to a wider wheel. Vehicles of those days were often under-tired.

These days, manufacturers usually get the wheel and tire sizes right, but often cut corners on the quality of the tires. The RS-As are fine for most driving, but are not the best for aggressive driving or wet weather driving. But Goodyear gives Nissan an 'offer they can't refuse' on the price of RS-A tires when bought in high volume, and this helps Nissan hold the MSRP down.

My RS-As are very satisfactory for my style of driving and driving conditions, but I understand they would not be the right rubber for some drivers and their driving situations.

I got rid of my RSA's. They were not good tires for me at all. I just purchased Michelin Primacy MXV4 grand touring tires. My RSA's only lasted 32,500 miles. The snow performance is what made me get new tires. I know by buying the Michelins i give up the performance, but i drive 170 miles rt a day for work here in NE Ohio and white knuckling it through lake effect snow on the highway was no fun for me. At least now i get 60k tires, better snow traction, and slightly smoother ride. Buying performance snow tires didn't appeal to me as i would have to buy a new set every winter because of how much i drive.

Got 70K off of my original 19" RSA's. I replaced them with MXV4's. I currently have a little over 80K miles on my 09 Max which I bought new in 08/08 and still have original brakes, i.e. pads, rotors. I guess it all depends on HOW you drive and not as much HOW FAR you drive. A lot of my mileage is "highway" miles, but I have absolutely have no complaints about these items. My Max is far from perfect, as I have had to replace both steering wheel motors, had both front wheel bearings replaced, and just yesterday replaced the battery and one of the TPMS sensors. Everything was under my extended warranty except the battery. Maybe I've just been lucky.

FYI they now have a RSA-2 which seem much better by the tread pattern at least.
RSA 's are not great tires but they're not junk like a Kuhmo, or Hankook either.

Haven't had any issues with my RSAs, gotten some pretty good snow falls in my area lately and no trouble. I work in a tire shop and my next tires is gonna be the Michelin Pilot AS3. It's the tire that's just replaced the AS+ which were a great tire to begin with.

Can't say I like the RSAs...started sliding on an on ramp, foot off the gas, doing 20mph. Can't wait for them to need replaced.
