HID ballast mounting

I just bought an HID kit from xenondepot and I haven't installed it yet. I've been playing around with the ballast, which is pretty small/slim, trying to figure out where to mount it. There's not really much room in the 7th gen engine bay, anyone who has installed an HID kit where did you mount the ballast?

Thanks

When you get into the wheel well you will notice there is a kind of shelf that goes between the fender and main chassis. Its pretty obvious once you get into the wheel well. Its a flat piece of metal angled at approximetly 45 degrees towards the front of the car. I mounted mine to this shelf. Ballasts sit nice and flat against the shelf and I zip tied for added security.

Im sure there are many other places to mount the ballast but this worked for me

Installing my HID fogs was easy, mounting the ballast and zip tieing the relay was like an hour job, laying under the car trying to figure out where to put it, when I remove the bumper I will probably mount the ballast under the headlights, it looks like they designed it that way.

To the OP, I have 3 sets of xenondepot volt kits, you basically want to mount them so they stay where you put them, you don't want them swinging around, all their stuff is excellent quality, shock absorbent, water proof

I see that shelf looking thing, yeah it's on both sides of the car, looks like the best/easiest place to mount it, how did you secure it there? just with zip-ties?

I just used Zip ties and a sticky pad on the bottom. Works perfectly. Now to find out where to mount the ballasts for the HID fogs... -.-

If you go to Sparkhid then you can purchase large variety ballast for cheap! I have used this Sparkhid site a few times. It is great.

What he said!

I used double sided tape and zip tie to secure the ballast.

I mounted mine on the same shelf as everyone else, but instead of double sided sticky tape, I used industrial strength Velcro tape. It holds super strong, but isn't impossible to move or replace if something goes wrong. Plus its not moving unless its purposeful.

I did this write up several years ago and it shows where the shelf is. Like others i used heavy duty Velcro and zip ties to keep it in place.
