Key fob battery

How long should a battery last in a key fob I have a 2009 maxima and I have to change my battery every 4-6 weeks is this normal I've had the dealership look at it before and they say there is nothing wrong with it I've also tried different brand batteries such as Rayovac Energizer and Duracell any help would be great thanks in advance.

Something is wrong. I've had my batteries in for over a year.

It should last a heck of a lot longer than 4-6 weeks. How long it lasts has a lot to do with how much it's used.
Strange....do you leave it in your pants pocket where it can be activated by other objects all the time?
Probably time for a new FOB.
I don't like to go more than a year without changing the battery out.

That's the funny thing I keep my keys on a clip that is clipped onto my pants and I drive my company truck during the week so the only time my car gets driven is on the weekend.

Use your spare keyfob as your main..... just keep the "bad" one as the spare. See if your second keyfob does the same draining issue.

My wife uses the other key fob and the battery in that one will usually last around 6 months.

Dealership friendly

Have you purchased a battery from the dealership. Nissan uses energizer batteries. It's either going to be a 2025 or a 2032. Those key fobs are picky on what kind of battery they take

I had what I thought was fob battery trouble around 18 months ago, and bought a new battery. Didn't help. Nissan tech found one of the three internal antennas associated with the intelligent key had malfunctioned.

He replaced it at no charge, even though my car was out of warranty. Took him an hour to diagnose and an hour and a half to replace the antenna (in a very difficult spot to reach).

When he finished, I put my OEM battery back in the fob and put the new one on the shelf in the tool room. So my wife and I still have the original batteries in our fobs, and the car was built in Sept 2008.

We used to use the fobs almost exclusively, but now use the buttons on the door handles just as much as we use the fobs.

Even with frequent use, I would be disappointed with less than two or three years minimum for one of these fob batteries.

4-6 weeks is definitely cray cray! I got my car last March and it's coming up on a year and the car just told me that the FOB has a low battery but it still works perfectly fine. Get you a new FOB.

My first one lasted only 2.5 months. It's replacement lasted nearly 3 years. Third one still going strong after six months.
